Here it is the Avenger's Monorail

This. If it was for rides and attractions dealing with allotted parks such as Mk (ex. A new fantasyland skin) id handle it a tad better. But random movie advertisements is corny imo.

Nothing "random" about it, as Disney paid a competiting studo $115 million big ones just to secure the distribution/marketing rights for what is already shaping-up to be one of 2012's biggest movies.

The new wrap is looking good. I would be kinda funny to see a Lady and The Tramp wrap for the Blu-ray release; where Lady would be on one end and tramp on the other with that pasta noodle they eat running the length of the train.

This would be hilarious! :rotfl:

I didn't know where to put this. There was an interesting review of Universal Hollywood's Transformers ride over at MiceAge today. The writer explains that the ride has basically the same layout as Spider-Man. They said that the special effects are in the exact same places. He speculated that the real reason they upgraded the Spider-Man projection system is so they can change the ride to Transformers sometime in the future. Spielberg did hint that Transformers is coming to Orlando...hmm.:)

Interesting, and probably true -- even though Universal Orlando has what is considered by the DIS die-hards around here to be a "iron-clad" contract to license certain Marvel characters for attrations at their theme park, I can't imagine Universal wanting to pay royalties to Marvel (now fully-integrated into rival studio/theme park operator The Walt Disney Company) any longer than absolutely necessary.

The 'iron-clad' contract is a rumor started by Universal. The actual contract has not been made public. It's a License contract, and as such, it has an expiration and renewal date. This is because of the changing value of the property (Marvel). Right now, Marvel is worth twice as much as Islands of Adventure. I've heard that the contract ends at the end of the year and that Disney will let them continue with the attractions until they have replacements. That should be within about 5 years.:)

With the success of the Avengers and Disney's original purchase of Marvel I have no doubt they want to find more ways to capitalize on the investment in the parks or otherwise. However I find it hard to believe to UNI would have invested in the significant upgrade of the Amazing Spiderman for a less than 5 year run. I could be completely wrong but whatever the true licensing agreement I have to believe its for a much longer period.

I have heard that part of the contract specifies that Universal must keep the Marvel Island in top shape or the deal can be terminated. Also, they do have the rights to Spider-Man for 10 years at the Tokyo park. Maybe they plan to move the new film there once the Florida contract ends.:)

Anyone know if the monorail will still be wrapped with the Avenger theme in a few weeks? We will be there on May 21 and would like to see it.

I would imagine so -- especially since the "shelf life" of any theatrical movie release is about 3-4 weeks...

I could see it being up even longer.

There is no reason to take it down. Maybe they keep it up until the DVD release. How long was the Tron o Rail up?

well over a year, IIRC

I think the monorail wraps are fun! But that could just be because I loved The Avengers...:upsidedow
