Booked a package through Dreams:
It is for room, food and 5 day tickets.

So here is what I still need to do:
Plane tickets $500.00
Spending: $200.00 (We do not need to bring much home)
Extra food money: $200.00

So I figure if I take 600.00 along we will be fine.

What do you think? I have to buy full food on arrive and some on depart. We will have water bottles for water. And will send a box down with a few items before we go. Even with the dining I would have to purchase breakfast daily. I have a teen so we know how much they eat

19th - arrive
20 - meal plan
21 - meal plan
22 - meal plan
23 - meal plan
24 - meal plan

You might want to recheck your dining plan which is sold by number of nights you're staying, according to your schedule that's 6 nights and you only have 5 days listed for using the meal plan so you may have more meals then you know. You can also use a sit down for a character breakfast and use them in any order you want (2 counter one day, 2 sit downs the next).

What transportation do you have from the airport? A rental car or shuttle will need to be added on unless you're going after the free shuttle starts in May. Also budget for tipping your driver, bell hops, mousekeeping.

$600 should be plenty for souveneirs & extra food.

HTH, Calie

I thought the dining plan is sold for the number of days you buy a park ticket for. I only bought a 5 day park ticket. I figure arrival and departure we would not need it.

Let me explain better:
I will have tips for mousekeeping, luggage etc done before I leave.
I am using magical express for free transfers
I have 5 day park ticket with dining

So I think the 600 is for food and souvineors should be good.

The dining plan is sold by the number of nights you're staying, not by the number of days on your park tickets. Since you're staying 6 nights, you will have 6 sitdown meals, 6 counterservice meals and 6 snacks for each of you. You can spend them any way you want, including using them all in a single day if you wish!

So, if you want to grab a little snack on your arrival day, you can do it. If you want to combine 2 sitdown options for Hoop de Doo or dinner at a "signature" restaurant, you can do that. If you want to use one of your counterservice options to grab breakfast on the morning of departure, then that's a possibily, too. You might as well use them because you're paying for them!

With regards to your budget, I think that you'll be fine. $600 for 2 people for 6 nights is plenty, especially since most (if not all) of your meals will be covered.

Everything I've read says dining is based on nights stayed, here's what allears says.

Walt Disney World is offering the option of purchasing a Dining Plan when you buy a vacation package. With the basic dining plan option, you get the base package of:

--Accommodations at a Disney Resort
--Magic Your Way Base Admissions Ticket (with the option to add on Park Hopper, Magic Plus Pack, or No Expiration options at an additional fee)
--Official Walt Disney Travel Company Luggage Tag (one per person)

PLUS you can choose to eat at more than 100 participating Disney restaurants. For each night of your package stay, the dining plan will allow you to get:

--One table-service meal (including appetizer, entree, dessert, non-alcoholic beverage, and gratuity/service charge)
--One counter service meal (including entree and non-alcoholic beverage)
--One snack, such as snack-cart ice cream, popcorn, or a non-alcoholic beverage

The basic dining plan allows for some flexibility, in that one table service meal may be exchanged for one character dining experience. You may also exchange TWO table service meals for ONE "signature dining experience" at one of WDW's best restaurants, such as California Grill. You could also exchange TWO table service meals for one Disney dinner show, such as the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue.

The MYW tickets are nice in that you can buy the # of days you want and it isn't length of stay like the old package where you might not use it on arrival and departure days. Ask your TA about the dining, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that you have an extra day on your dining package to use for those 2 days you don't have it planned for. Let us know what you find out, with the new packages there's alot of conflicting information out there.

Glad I looked at my reservation
I have 6 days of Park Tickets
and I have 6 days of dining

So looks like I am in better shape than I thought. Now to find plane tickets that get me into Florida really early. So we can enjoy a day in the park.

Now to plan the days and places to eat.

Are you certain that the package that you booked is the most economical for your needs? There is a very recent thread that questions the savings of the meal plans. Apparently, you will be paying full rates for your hotel stay. Look this thread over. You might be better off booking things separately instead of being "locked" in. Best of luck!!!
