that kid that is the toyata highlander commerical. it make me feel like the kid should make the choice in the house... and so what if i embrass you, that means i doing my job..

yep and the parents should go deep in debt for a car so the kid can have his own personal entertainment center in his own little world

Yep, what a brat!

I said something similar to DH.

These commercials don't make me want to buy the car, if anything they will keep me away from it....LOL

That commercial is HILARIOUS. I don't pay any attention to the vehicle they are selling, but that poor little boy trying to deal with his parents stupid singing...reminds me of the Griswolds.

OMG! I just had this conversation with my mom. I think this is the WORST marketing in the world!! Why do I care what my bratty kid thinks about the car I drive?? Is HE paying for it?? I wanted to call the company and tell them what an adult BUYER thinks of these commercials!!

(plus, somebody cut that kids hair!!!)

I think it's cute, especially when the other kids mouths "help me." :confused3

Well, we all have different opinions. I think the commercial is funny. I don't think anyone really thinks a kid should behave that way. And, I think his hair is cute. ;)

I think in general commercials that use bratty, smart-A$$ kids are not funny or going to sway me to buy the product.
There are 2 different commercials with this same kid. The second one does not feature the 'funny' aspect of the other kid mouthing 'help me' but instead is just the bratty kid commenting on how not to embarrass your kids by buying a $40k car.

I completely agree. This is my most hated commercial on tv right now. That kid makes me sooooo irritated. Who cares what this bratty kid wants? PLUS when we were kids if our parents were singing we'd sing along. That's where we got our love of music. Now kids are plopped in the backseat with headphones and a tv and there is no family interaction at all. Every single thing about this line of commercials ticks me off!

The kids a little snob and nothing to emulate.

My son and I were singing to ABBA yesterday afternoon.... LOL

Yup, DH can't stand those commercials. They didn't bother me at first, but I am growing contemptful with them...

funny,I thought the same thing last night when I saw it....what an entitled little brat...look how cut off he is from his parents, who created the little monster in the 1st place, and are now perpetuating his brattiness so he'll grow to be a hideously self centered teen...I'm not kidding,in that 30 second commercial,I thought ALL of that. :rotfl:Somehow,I doubt that's what the advertisers had planned....and since 8 year olds don't buy cars,I wonder who they think will spend on this car after thinking those thoughts?:confused3:thumbsup2
I 'get' the joke about the kid not liking his 'dorky' parents music..... but I don't see it as a bonus that we could buy a car where we all totally unplug from each others likes/dislikes and completely disconnect...I guess I seriously hate that commercial.....

And I don't understand the "entertainment" system in cars. If you travel a lot (road trips to Gramma's or something like that) I could see having it- BUT if you don't- does your kid really need to watch SpongeBob on the way to school?:confused3 Or to the grocery store?:confused3

It's no wonder our average attention spans keep getting shorter and shorter. Kid's seem to need to be stimulated every single miniscule moment, so they don't need to learn the value of patience anymore. What? you're upset/bored/cranky/hungry/embarrassed/tired/anything else in the world? Well here, we'll just pop in a video or a game and your mind can just turn into a zombie. What happened to playing road games? Looking for license plates from other states? I spy? 20 questions? What happened to interaction? What happened to playing with a toy in the car? At least that stimulates creativity!

The problem isn't with the commercials it is with the people who buy the cars with the entertainment systems in them (if you are opposed to them of course). If the consumer didn't demand them as an option the car companies wouldn't be touting them as a feature.

The commercials themselves are just attempts at humor and people take them way too seriously. Besides, a commercial is supposed to make an impression, good or bad, and it appears they have. In the end if you allow a commercial to determine the car you buy as opposed to the features and how they stack up against the competition you aren't a very smart consumer IMO.

It's an annoying commercial- but I'm not taking it "seriously".

It hasn't made much of an impression on me.... I don't know what kind of car it is.

I don't get what makes this kid so "cool" - the unkempt hair, sloppy clothes or whiny voice? :confused3 None of those things were "cool" when I was younger LOL

LOL! Ditto. I don't even know what they're selling. All I know is that it's annoying. I'm not car shopping, I just don't like annoying commercials, and that's my perogative! :woohoo:
