Here is a thought on how Disney can fill more tables...

Well FF used to be one of our favs until the refurb, dumped ALL of our favorites and have no desire to go with what is on the menu now. I would love to know what apps they will offer during this promo...after all... doubt they'll offer their Snake River White Sturgeon ($130),
or the Royal Belgian Platinum ($160) or the Galilee Royal Osetra ($200)!!!!

YES you read this right, c'mon, no wonder they have to fill tables here. These are APPETIZERS guys!! REALLY?? Makes the entrees that start at $39 seem like "no frills" bargains...if I had the cash to spend on dinner like that, I would rather go to V&A!!

I completely agree with you. Even in San Francisco you don't often see Disney Signature prices for comparable items at mid-high end restaurants. It's madness that they think they can get away with pricing like that in central Florida.

Have to agree. And for us europeans adding 15/20 % tip on top of already insane prices is a no go. Here that is included AND fine ding in any major euro city is a fraction.

I've not been there but I'd be concerned if they could source caviar and give you enough to actually taste for much less than that?

I agree with the Flying Fish change, was excited to go back this year after their refurb but the menu isn't appealing at all anymore.

Those are caviar not appetizers. They aren't even listed on the menu online. My guess would be the pork belly, lobster bisque, and salad as those are all under 15.

With V&A if they offer caviar it is probably not included in the set price unless it is used as a garnish on another dish. A solid serving of quality caviar is usually an up-charge where ever you go.

Just to add the "luxury" grocery store I have catered through before sales the Galilee Royal Osetra for up to 800 a jar depending on size.. I wonder what type and size Disney is serving. Looks like a 2 ounce jar should be roughly that price.

I think it's the crazy prices. I live between Boston and NYC and I know 'city prices'.... Disney is HIGH. Sometimes the food is great, but usually not par with the cost overall,so we choose carefully. I assume others do too.

Something that I didn't mention in my OP is the effect of recent increases in the price of park admission.

Ticket prices are up across the board. It's $75 just to park hop with multi-day tickets. Extra days that used to cost $5 are now up to $20 plus tax.

The effect of these increases can be felt two ways by average guests. One being that when they're paying so much for admission, they aren't going to waste valuable park time on fine dining. And two, they have only so much money for vacation. If more of their budget is going toward tickets, they have less to spend on dining.

That's what we found ourselves doing on our last WDW trip. In prior visits we would have 1 TS dinner/day. When that became cost-prohibitive, we started having more QS meals for dinner or we'd have dinner offsite before going to the parks in the evening. TS became a luxury. We were not going to expand our budget for our trip budget just because somebody flipped his or her lid and decided to jack up prices way beyond the giggle point.

@Praying Colonel We also used to do one TS per day, but between the jacked-up prices and the hassles of ADRs, we are down to 3 next 8 night trip.

One of those is a baby's birthday, another is Ohana because we love it, and the third is at Bluezoo, so no ADR. I made a reservation through Open Table for that.

It's bad enough that the prices are so high, but when you have to make an ADR 6 months in advance and can't cancel last minute, it's just Crazytown. We are on vacation after all.
