Weds afternoon at 3:45, I have an interview with "Stonie" (yes that's the name I was given) at the local AMC movie theatre. I need all the P and PD I can get. Hopefully this will turn into a perm. job for me and they won't tell me "Oh we're just looking for PT/Seasonal."

I've got my fingers crossed. I've heard that movie employees get to see movies for free. How cool would that be? :)

Thanks. I'm gonna need all I can get. :)

Hopefully this will be the end of my Sonic er..career, if you'd like to call it that. I prefer to look at it as a very interesting (and possibly so far the LONGEST )stop on my extremely varied and interesting journey known as Retail As A Career. :)

Well, lots of positive ju-ju headed your way! If it's anything like our theatres here you will be running the place if you can hang around longer than 3 weeks (that's no joke, during some downtime my dh was working part time and was into management in 3 weeks and offered his own theater in 9!) I hope it turns out to be what you are looking for :teeth:

Wow.

Thanks. :) I don't care what it is right now, I'll take ANYTHING, any position doing any sort of down and dirty disgusting job, even a janatorial position, to get out of this job.

Speaking of down and dirty...*sniff*I've got DS on my lap (he says HI btw  ) and I think that I need to go change him! :crazy2: Either that or the cat has dragged rotten fruit into the office and buried it behind the desk again.

TOV,
I had posted a while back to another thread you started...was wondering what part of 'Dixie' you hail from?

:Pinkbounc to say:

Thanks but don't waste your time on P and PD for me. I just talked to DH and the conversation was not good. Ended up with me sitting on the bathroom floor with DS, both of us crying our eyes out. I also ended up canceling the interview with AMC.

DH told me if I even went to the interview to go ahead and file divorce papers at the same time. He said if I even *thought* about going to the interview, he would divorce me. He said he is willing to let me interview a lot of places, but not the movie theatre. I don't know why..other than I'd probably have to work holidays. Yeah, that would totally suck but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. That's how I look at it anyway.

He said I had scheduled the interview out of desperation to get out of my current job. I don't know..I can't stop crying. I put DS to bed. I don't know when DH is going to be home.

I'm sorry, TOV :(

I do have to say if my husband dared give me an ultimatum like that, then he'd be sorely regretting it by the time I was through with him.
He's not your father, he's your partner . Seems like he's more concerned with himself than your feelings/sanity and that's not right or healthy for any relationship.

he's probably heard the rumors about what employees do in the projection room.

TOV,
I pm'd you earlier, not that you're in the mood to check it :(

Keep your chin up, you want a job that you will be happy at, not just going from one bad situation to another. This is a good time of the year to move to another retail position, keep an optimistic outlook. Even if it's seasonal it could definitely turn into more. Think about your ideal job and focus on finding something that works for all of you.

If anybody wants to talk to me, I'm in the chat right now with KathyTx and diver,so pop in.

TOV

Sounds like you could really use a big  ! Sorry you are unhappy with your current job and that DH was not supportive of your interviewing at the Movie theatre!

Sending some Pixie Dust and Prayers that something better is out there waiting for to discover it!

We talked about it last night and everything's cool now. He got upset because he doesn't want me taking a job where I work late at night or on holidays.

I am desperate though..he isn't wrong about that. There are days when I would sell my soul to the Devil to get out of this job.
:(

TOV

No! Don't do it! It's not worth losing your soul over!

I am glad everything is cool now with you and DH! I am sure he is just lokking out for you! I worked retail and believe me during the holidays we worked some very late hours!

I believe there is a job out there for you to find! Just keep the faith, your chin up and I am sure you will find it when you least expect it!

Wishing you the best!

Jodi

From past experience and as much as I loved working at a Movie Theater, honestly the hours do suck. I'm glad you and your dh talked it over though and honestly unless you have a strong support system helping you with your son, you'll be working alot of nights and weekends.
Many times I do miss working there, and maybe one day after Devyn is grown I'll go back into theater management. But until then, I just missed too much of her growing up. I'll take my 7am to 3:30 job anyday.

If you do decide to go ahead and reschedule the interview, just be sure to emphasize that you are a hard worker and eager to learn new things. If you get hired and perform those duties just as you said, you can move up the ranks fairly fast.

Good luck with your decision!
