Here I am, day 9, avoiding packing up. Why not take advantage of the free WiFi and post on disboards? But I must hurry because in 15 minutes I will step out onto my walkway and watch Epcot's fireworks.

When I checked in online I chose 60s. I didn't pay for preferred and I didn't know if any of the 60s rooms were not preferred. I still don't know whether my room is or not, but it is in a fabulous location! Room 4458. Fourth floor, lake side. It's close to the hippy dippy pool, the food court, and the buses. The parking is too far, in my opinion, but for the time we had a car I parked in the check in lot and it was pretty quick. At night I walk right outside and watch the fireworks. The first night I was already in bed when the fireworks started and my DD opened the door and I could see them from my bed!! Awesome!

The food here is great, as always. Pop has some serious problems with their ice machines though. They are down so often that I'm guessing they will be replaced soon. But the lemonade and soda come out of the tap pretty cold anyway so I wasn't crying about it. I love the meatball sub and salad!

The staff could not be nicer, but that goes for all of Disney. Mousekeeping is great too. No problems at all. I'm not a big fan of the buses, but that's strictly a personal preference. I'm impatient and I don't like waiting, or standing the whole way back. Also, we had ALOT of rain for the first half of our trip and it just made the buses a little less pleasant for me. Icky, smelly, wet people crammed together, yikes. One night, leaving Downtown Disney, the AoA pulled up and we jumped on it. There were very few other people on it so we could actually sit. We had been wanting to walk over there and check the place out (building 4 is super close to the bridge), but this walk back to Pop was our first time. And OH MY GOSH it is so nice over there!! I had to go to the bathroom bad so I went into theirs, in the lobby. It's all pink and Little Mermaidy!! I took a picture, lol! We checked out their store and headed out back. You have all seen the pictures by now, but I'm telling you, in person it is even more wonderful! It just is. I can't explain it. I'm going to stay here someday. The pool is gated but it is not locked. I know because I wanted a closer look even though it was pouring! I went back a few times over the course of the trip and it was never locked, but maybe it will be when all the sections are open. I've been told that when you go underwater in The Big Blue you hear Nemo and Dory talking! So cool! I have a perfect view of the bridge and all day long you can spot Pop folks walking back over in their swimsuits. Obviously they don't Dis and therefore don't know how worked up people get about pool hopping!

Well, that's about all I can think of right now. I hear the newcomers next door outside watching MY fireworks. Geez. Some nerve.

Wait!! I forgot to mention the pool games. They have organized games for kids of all ages that go on every day for HOURS! Swim races, relays, hula hooping, trivia, all kinds of stuff. Everyone gets really into it. I'm pretty sure they do it at AoA too, because I could hear a microphoned voice coming from over there at the same time Pop was doing their games.

Any questions?

So glad you enjoyed your stay, and thanks for the extra info re AoA. Can I ask how far the Little Mermaid buildings seemed from the main bldg and the Big Blue? Thanks!!

I hate that night before feeling. We were just at Pop the first week of May and will be back the first week of September. We loved our room too. 60's building - room 4316. Like yours, close to pool and food court. I am excited to be able to see A of A. We plan to stay there next May. Hopefully it will be pretty much done. We also noticed that the ice machines were down a lot at Pop when we visited....must be an on going problem for them. Enjoy your last evening and tell the guy next door to move over so you can see the fireworks too.

Nice to hear your story:)
Ditto! :thumbsup2 Thank you for sharing your story! Your story just made me want to go to Disney now! We are also staying at POP and I can't wait to walk the bridge to AoA! :cool1:

I just went out to double check, because I had looked before and thought the Little Mermaid rooms seemed far out. They are. From the pool, moving to the right are all the Nemo buildings, looks like 3 buildings from here, and then a huge space. It's not developed yet so I don't know what's going in there, but it's an empty space easily as big as the length of another building. After that is the first Mermaid building. The last Mermaid rooms are far. I snapped two pictures to give you some perspective but my camera cords are at home. I'll load them to this thread tomorrow night.

thanks for the info! :thumbsup2
Ive never stayed at POP or AoA - but would like to stay at both someday. I hope you enjoed the fireworks and I hate that last night at Disney feeling  - it just makes you want to start looking at rates for your next trip! :cool1:

Thank you CarKey! Looking forward to the pics when you have a chance! TIA

"Icky, smelly, wet people" made me smile for some reason. I have experienced that a few times on some very crowded buses. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Thanks for the smile this morning:thumbsup2 We stayed at POP for my kids first visit and had the exact experience with the resort, even down to room location! Ditto on that meatball sub!! Can't wait to head back and do a split stay between POP and AoA. Or maybe we'll just pool hop :rotfl:

In the photos online the POP Rooms look, well, tired and rather blah. I have never been there. I am curious to know if they are better in person. Have all the rooms switched over to the blue colored comforter now? I saw those in some pics and they look a little more cheerful.
Are the windows really small??
Are there elevators to the 4th floors?
Sounds like POP is more compact in terms of distances to food court etc.

Loved reading your review and excited about the fireworks from Epcot!

All of the rooms were rehabbed in 2010. They all have the same comforter. They also added the privacy curtain during the rehab. All buildings have elevators and they go all the way up.

We have stayed deluxe and moderate and then we stayed at Pop last year. We are returning to Pop again this year. The rooms at Pop are clean, bright, and all redone, very modern. They are not blah and tired! Pop is a great resort. We book 2 rooms at Pop. For roughly the same price, we could have done a suite at Art of Animation, but my kids and myself just prefer Pop. AOA rooms are just too "in your face" with the Disney cheese factor for us, lol!

The windows are not small, IMO. Yes, there are elevators to the 4th floor rooms! Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your "last night" with us! We were there two weeks ago and I am experiencing the post-Disney blues a little more than usual. We rotate our stays among the Values each year and Pop is next on the list (next summer) but with AoA now in the rotation it actually should be next. And the view of the fireworks from your room? That is awesome, I have never been at my hotel during the fireworks, but now at least I know that if I DID want to see Illuminations from Pop, I can.:wizard:

I'll be at Pop on Saturday and I cannot wait to get a chance to walk over to AoA. We arrive at Pop around 1pm. I am definitely walking over and then we are off to Boma for dinner! Getting so excited!

I have actually seen/heard video online where you can hear the singing/talking under the water at the AoA pool. It is super clear! Who thinks of this stuff? Well, I guess Imagineers.

Did you check out the AoA food court? The menus look yummy. During our Aug trip we thought we'd go over one day for a lunch. And walk around of course. Now I'll have to go check out the wash room too :rotfl:

Issues with ice would make me crazy! I love ice and can't enjoy drinks without it (I know - I'm spoiled :goodvibes). Thanks for the report!
