Here Comes The S5!!

Maybe I am confused in my own mind but..

I thought there is a hack for RAW support. If you are that bold to try it.

Mikeeee

The hack works for DIGIC II processors, the S5 is a DIGIC III.

Even if they come up with a hack, most people would not know about it. It also means that the RAW file the hack creates is not going to be suported 100% by the RAW converters. Plus, you do not get a converter with the camera. I suspect that they do not support it to try to get you to upgrade to DSLR.

Referring to the bolded, above: that seems to be the consensus on most of the Canon-related forums in which I participate. :)

However, the RAW hack for the DIGICII is supported by a lot of converters and programs; maybe not 100%, but certainly enough to get the job done. I'd suspect that a similar hack for the DIGICIII (which does not, to my knowledge,, exist at this time) would offer similar options.

What is the MSRP? I didn't see it on there, but I may have overlooked it.

I believe they raised the price by $100 over the S3 to $499. The street price will likely come down to about $400 fairly quickly though.

Does anyone know what type of shutter delay the S5 has? I would like to find a point and shoot to take to the ballpark for when an SLR just doesn't make sense or I have space constraints.

Shutter lag on the Sx line is ~.3 sec; in the top 25% of all digital P&S cameras. The S3 gets ~2.3fps with a fast SDCard in high-speed continuous ... I believe it's ~1.5fps on the S5.
