We checked in today around 12:30. Didn't have to wait very long in line - about 10 minutes. Reserved king bed and requested Magnolia Terrace, but a room wasn't ready - did have a king bed at Acadian House, 3rd floor, so I took it. VERY NICE!! Didn't mind the short walk to our building - very scenic. We were impressed with interior of front desk and restaurant areas. The theming is awesome! Also loving our room. Extremely clean - carpet looks pretty new. Bedspread looks fairly new, too. No dust - bathroom spotless. Much better in person than what I saw in pictures. I'll post some photos when I get back.

So for those of you worried about Riverside - all I can say is that we are extremely happy. Grounds look well kept and cast members are friendly and helpful. Bus service to Animal Kingdom great - took about 15 minutes waiting to go there, about 5 minutes for ride back.

Lots of people in lobby area and main pool, but foodcourt wasn't busy at 5PM. Animal Kingdom had lots of people around 3PM, but many were just standing around or leaving park. Walked right up to It's Tough to Be a Bug - waited about 2 minutes inside.

I'm expecting it to be busy tomorrow and Monday, but am prepared and just glad to be here. Actually, I'm smiling like a little goober.

Feeling the magic!! These boards have been invaluable to me. Thanks to everyone for their advice and opinions.

I have been hearing a lot about mosquitos.....have you all encountered much of a problem?

Thanks!

Amee

WDWBetsy, please find out what days of the week and times that Bob Jackson performs in the River Roost Lounge. I'll be at PO-RS in a few short weeks but only for one night. I am praying that Bob will be performing that night because I want my husband to see Bob's show for the very first time.

By the way, have a magical vacation!

Amee, we didn't notice any mosquitoes, but we were back in our room by 6PM (exhausted after getting up at 2:30 this morning!). I did notice a huge wasp or bee trying to land on the DH on the way to our room after checking in. He smacked it hard and it flew away.

janet2k, I'll find out tomorrow and let you know.

This resort is awesome.

We just had a cast member knock at our door and sing Happy Anniversary to us. He gave us a card with notes from Mickey and Minnie wishing us a happy anniversary - and inside was a photo signed by both of them. We were grinning from ear to ear!!

This is one vacation that is more magical by the minute.

Just heard some thunder...

Off to bed I go so I can wake up bright and early tomorrow!

WDWBetsy, thanks for the immediate resort report. It's amazing to me to read posts from people at WDW right now!

Janet2k, unless WDWBetsy has more recent info tomorrow you can click here http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/index.htm and go to DOWNTOWN DISNEY. At the bottom of the page is this:

Port Orleans - River Roost Lounge
Musician/Singer Bob Jackson
Wednesday-Saturday from 8:30pm to midnight

I hope this works for you. Enjoy! ::yes::

Hi Betsy:

We will be there on November 12 for a week, and after you have been there a few days, let us know how you feel about your room location. Convenient to the bus is the most important thing for us. We don't usually eat at the food court. Also how is the bus service and the times?

If your going to be at the Luau or the Hoop De Doo, let us know your travel times for that too.

Its great that you take time out from your Disney Time to report, how is the internet connection?

Oh and Happy Anniversary, this will be an anniversary trip for us too!

Have fun:
Carol

(Sound of door opening)

Happy anniversary to you!
Happy annivesary to you!

Thanks so much for taking the time out to file these reports! I'm going to be staying at POR from Nov. 29-Dec 6 and am SO excited. I've never stayed there before, but get so psyched every time I read someone raving about the grounds and the theming.

Again, thanks for taking the time to post! Look forward to reading more about your trip!

Richard

Billybaruch1, thank you so much for that information. That is exactly what I was looking for. I can't wait to see Bob Jackson's show.

i cant wait to see your pics of the hotel. i am going to port orleans riverside in july 2004. please try to take sum pictures of the game room and the food court!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester:

I have a reservation there in December and after reading several negative posts about the condition of the rooms I was thinking about changing.

but I have a question....have any of the rooms at POR been renovated yet? We are headed down on 11/2 for our third visit, and my 20 something DDs are already complaining about the beds...said they hardly slept last year because the beds were so bad....I didn't notice, can sleep on a rock, but if part of the resort has been renovated, maybe I can request a room there...Love reading an on the scene trip report, and again, have a great time. MaryAunt:)

Thanks for the positive review. My tribe is planning a trip in June 2004 to POR & i t's nice to hear something positive.:bounce:
