Hi guys,
We arrived late, late, late (midnight) Thursday night. We are staying at SS and so far having a GREAT time. Yesterday we piddled around DD and then went to a Braves spring training game, and today we did Animal Kingdom. We leave tomorrow
This trip is short as we thought of it on a whim on New Year's. We had the thought, why not use our extra developer points and book a trip for Spring Training....so we did. Our real trip will be when we return in a few weeks (April) for 5 days.
Some notes:
First off the resort:
I REALLY love SSR. I don;t know what the complaints are about. Yes, it is quite big. Yes it is huge, but I guess we lucked out with our room location. We are int he Paddock, first building across from Congress Park, and it is seriously not a desert trekking walk to anything (DD, main pool) AT ALL. I really love it. I suppose if we were up in the Grandstand then I'd B- about the walk to DD, however you could always jump on a bus at the Grandstand stop and ride over to the Congress Park stop.
Yak&Yeti restraunt @ AK:
I was scared before our trip. Only place I made a reservation for (last week I might add) and reviews are mixed. I found the food to be really good. We had a 2nd floor table, over looking the entrance to the Asia section. I ordered the wonton soup (BEST I HAVE EVER HAD) and the potstickers. All so delish. The hubster ordered the Beef & Broccoli w/Jasime rice and liked it (he is so not into Asian or Chinese food, he usually suffers when we order Chinese). In lieu of desert we had "adult beverages." Good but pricey. We were surprissed to find we got a 10% DVC discount eating here.....we've been too lazy to check the book. Our 20 month old shared the Beef & Broccoli with Daddy. She fell asleep while waiting for the bus back to the resort and it currently sleeping on our bed.
Studio size:
I find it adequate space for the three of us. We may bring grandma in April, and although the room will be a bit crowded, it will still be enough space for all of us.
Animal Kingdom:
I'v e always though of this as a one-day park, but with our 20 month old, and letting her have her fun and her time, I can see it being a two dayer (or a hopping back to park). She enjoyed the safari, although she had a tantrum while waiting int he boarding queue,a nd we lost a pacifier where the trucks pull up. The highlight of her day though was watching the "big drop" at Expidition Everest and laughing as the peopel screamed. There was hardly ever a wait ALL DAY in the single rider line, so we let Daddy ride and ride and ride. Mommy rode it once, and I can say that I did it. I suppose if I were to ride it again, I'd get hooked.
Well that's about, waiting for th elittle one to wake up so we can swim. We may head over to the Contemporary to look around there and grab dinner.
