Lets face it.... ordering in the QS restaurants can be challenging, everyone is hungry, over-tired, hot, and ready to eat....

<> Please... Please.... be ready to order... in most QS they give menus at the door, and as well there are huge sign's that states what is on the menu... and even though things are not listed individual, you can order extra fries, sides, sandwiches, dessert or drinks...

<> If you don't know what your family wants then don't get in line to order. There are hungry or "hangry" folks behind you who are ready to order, payment in hand and ready to eat...

<> All this arguing with the kids, debating whether or not fries are the best choice and we really should go with the green beans, should be dealt with before getting to the podium. As well if you are sharing, this is something that should be address early on so that everyone is on the same page...

<> Be ready for one person to place your whole order for the whole family or group if you are paying for everything at once, example - we would like 2 shrimp and fish platters, and 1 chicken pot pie, and 2 side orders of hush-puppies - 2 kids chicken nuggets and fish meals with milk, 1- kids mac and cheese with water, and 3 cokes... not everyone chiming in at once, and confusing the CM...

<> If mom or dad needs to take one or everyone else to the restroom, whoever is ordering should know what everyone wants before they walk away...

<> When the CM ask if you are on one the DDP, you should know the answer yes or no... If you are on the DDP and want to use the dinning plan credits the answer is yes... if you are on the DDP but want to pay out of pocket for that meal, you just say no... and pay... If you are splitting it up you will need to go with 2 orders which is what we do...

<> If you are going to charge to the room, let the CM know that's what you want to do... have your magic band ready, not in the backpack - diaper bag or with someone else that is not standing with you

<> Have your form of payment ready, don't let your spouse walk away with the CC you plan to use.

<> Have a plan on how you are going to get that tray or trays piled with food and drinks to the table without spilling all of it... for us DH carries the tray, and I carry the drinks... If we have to whole family with us, my DH and DSIL carry the trays, and DD carry's the drinks, and I get my grandson... ( sneaky huh)

<> For us we get a table then make a run to the condiment bars for what we need...

<> We bring our own wipes to quick wipe off the table, and chairs...

<> Please keep your kiddos with you at the table or in line, don't let them run all over back and forth around other tables...they can get hurt or knock someone else down...

<> When you are finished eating, clean up after yourself and your family, throw away all your trash, and brush off the crumbs...

Hope this helps, if anyone had other tips or suggestions, Please add yours to the ones I have posted...

I absolutely agree that these are great rules to live by and for counter service. And at the same time, I think it's good for everyone to take a deep breath, be patient, and not let little things like this get them annoyed or worked up, or to spend too much time and effort worrying about it.

Some things that come to mind: maybe the family has a child with special needs and they didn't realize the shape of the French fries until they got to the check out, maybe the magic bands weren't working for payment, maybe there is a person with a severe food allergy that needs clarification (BTDT with this one because the allergy menus are NOT always accurate or helpful) Maybe people just are out of their norm with the craziness and excitement at Disney and they didn't have their payment ready fast enough because they were trying to keep a toddler from running, or maybe they didn't plan ahead on how to carry their tray. Deep breaths. It will be okay...

Yeah, I'm with this post. Let's give our fellow vacationers a break ;) We who know better can all use mobile order and not have to wait behind people who are floundering anyway.

This reminds me of being at the airport in the security line. There are always a bunch of folks in front of you who leave laptops or bottled water in their carryon, leave metal keys in their pockets, don't take off their shoes or coat. I used to roll my eyes a bit at others who weren't prepared, but then I was exhausted one day after a particularly hard-working business trip and I definitely tried to walk through the scanner machine with my winter coat on. We can't all be perfect 100% of the time!

Yes, there are certainly circumstances where issues arise but I think the OP is referring to the MANY people who seem to have no consideration for others. A little consideration for the next in line/waiting for a table goes a long way.

I still remember the first time we ordered QS on our first trip to Disney. It was chaos, and we had no idea what the procedure was. I can guarantee that we annoyed a CM or two, not to mention other customers.

I haven't flown since 2004. Could you clue me in on the TSA line etiquette and expectations? I don't want to irritate the people behind me in line.

Simple:
  • Any liquids must be 3 Oz or less and must be in a single quart size (or smaller) zip lock bag, this must be removed from your bag and placed on top of all items in a bin.
  • Laptops and each electronic item larger than a cell phone must be placed in its own bin.
  • ALL pockets must be completely empty now, not even paper in them.
  • Shoes and belts need to be removed and placed in a bin, this can go in a bin with other items, just none of the items above.
  • ALL food must now be removed and placed in a separate bin (this one got us on our last trip, but they were nice about it because it is a new rule that isn't well known yet)
  • When packing your bags, make all wires, chargers, etc. as tidy as possible, this will expedite the screening a lot and this is true for both carry on and checked bags.
  • Do not bring any prohibited items in your carry on or checked bags, if you aren't sure if would be allowed, chances are it won't, but check TSA's app or website
Ideally you should have all of this done before you reach the rollers on the x-ray machine.

Not to get totally OT, but all of this really depends on the airport you're at! I've never had to remove snacks at any airport, shoes and tablets sometimes need to be removed, sometimes not. Last time I forgot to remove my belt and it didn't set off the metal detector at all. I usually wait and see what's required at that particular airport before I start removing everything out of my bags.

This is what the rules are supposed to be at any U.S. airport as of Jan 31, 2019, prior to that the rules were slightly different, even as early as Jan 17, 2019 we didn't have to remove all food, this was not an airport specific thing, this was a rule change between those two dates.

Normally I'd agree, but at WDW I find myself pretty relaxed in the lines at the quick service (one caveat), realizing I'm somewhere with a lot of children and things are just going to take longer.

I would, on the other hand, like to leave a tip for the CMs at the Starbucks in MK - don't be so chatty with the customers, the lines take 35 minutes!!! Take the order and move on!;) (also, they are incredibly slow at making the drinks, like, INCREDIBLY)

It's all COMMON SENSE Great Post!

I haven't checked the rules on the food but we just flew out of MCO on Feb. 2, 2019 and we weren't required to remove any food!

Flew out of MCO March 2018. The very unorganized people in front of us were made to dig around their bags and find all of the food and place it in a bin along with everything else required. It took Forever!

Thanks for going off-topic for me. All I was aware of was the ziploc bag of 3 oz. liquids. I appreciate the info.

My QS tip is that there are two lines for each cashier, on each side. Often people only line up on one side and you can walk right up and be next to order on the other side.

Ooh this is a super divisive one. My take is the appropriate thing to do here is to inform the guests that have been waiting in front of you that they can line up on both sides and give them option to go to the other side before walking past them. It is not a super obvious policy to non disney vets and a bit unfair I think to zip in ahead of them when you know they were there first and likely have no idea they can use both sides
