Actually, now that you mention it, that would be a good ride. I'd think maybe more of a trackless thing, where the VWs all dance around and such. Unfortunately, I just don't think the property is relevant enough at the moment.

Yeah, that is one of the trackless rides. It's the same technology as Pooh's Hunny Hunt at Tokyo and Ratatouille at Paris (soon to open in Epcot). The cars isn Pooh's also "dance" but they move through dark-ride show scenes too. I'd want something more elaborate like that.
Agreed there are some classic things in DLR that really aren't current (lookin' at you Mr. Toad and Roger Rabbit) but they were reasonably timely when they first debuted.

I remember growing up to these movies and loving them as a kid. I can see them replacing the gas cars with a Herbie ride. Be more environmentally friendly.
It is irrelevant now, though there are rumors of a Herbie show for Disney+ possibly. It would have to happen and hit big though for there to be ride. Still, it's a fun idea to discuss.
