I thought I read somewhere about these, I was just curious if anyone has done them and how much they would cost. Also where are they? I thought it was someplace in the world showcase...

I have not done one in WDW but my DH, DS(then 3) and I all had one done on the Jersey Shore.

They are completely painless. Depending on which one you get they can be cute or gruesome and they last about two weeks (if I remember right) A thing I do remember is that if you get one, you can't cover it until it is completely dry or it will smudge, then when it is dry, a crusty bit comes off, leaving the tattoo in place.

All of us liked ours and we felt very "in" that year on the Boardwalk! hehehehehe!

The ones at the World Showcase in EPCOT are more then $15.00 but not by much I believe.

Just a word form the . . . .well, just a word from my past experences with Henna. I had a henna tattoo on my ankle. I manged to keep it from getting wet or rubbed by anything for over two days. It proceeded to flake off and everything was great right? Wrong! I had no tattoo. There was a faint shadow for about 30 minutes and then it totally disappeared. :earseek: Totally not fair! I had to sit still for the silly thing longer then that.

Hi

I got one in Morocco on my last WDW trip. It was $25 and on my ankle...it took her about 10-15 minutes total and then I had to go back 30 mins later to have it wiped down.

It took a couple days to fleck off, but then it lasted me about a month after I got home. (went swimming once during the trip) Fun - if I do it again I'll make sure it's the first day of vacation.

Oooo, I've always wanted to try a Henna tattoo! :Pinkbounc It's the only tattoo I'll get! ;) I guess I'll try to sneak one in while hubby goes and flirts with Jasmine!

I've had the Henna tattoo's done 2x and going for a 3rd in a couple of weeks. Anyway, the prices vary, I think they may start at $15-20 and go up from there. It depends on what you get. Some of them are pretty simple and some are very elaborate. The first one I had done I had to wait 20 minutes and then go back and she used lemon juice on it. It flaked away in a couple of days and the tattoo lasted for over a month. The 2nd one I had done I went back after the 20 minutes and she wrapped tape (like packing tape) around it and had to leave that on... I think for 3 hrs. That one flaked away and only lasted 2 wks...if that. I was disappointed that it didn't last longer, but I did more swimming on that trip so I don't know if that had anything to do with it not lasting. I think they're great and can't wait to get another one done. I'm too big of a chicken to get a "real" tattoo.

Another tip to make it last; you're supposed to rub vegetable or olive oil on the tattoo after the henna flakes off. It's supposed to help darken the tattoo. The first time I had it done, I didn't know that, so I used a little bit of margarine from the food court That tattoo lasted about a month. The last time, I put some vegetable oil in a travel bottle and brought it with me, since I knew I wanted another tattoo. That one lasted a month also! Swimming and using soap and/or lotion on the tattoo will shorten the time it lasts, so keep that in mind as well. They're so beautiful, and if you pay that much for one, you want it to last as long as possible!

I had one done on our last trip and it lasted about two weeks. I had both hands done and it cost $30.00 per hand. It was painless and took only about 30 minutes for both hands. I will probably do it again.

I had it done a year ago May and it didn't last as long as I guess it could have, because I was using lotion. (I had a temporary tattoo that lasted longer.)

But I plan on doing it again in October. The prices start at about $15, but do go up from there depending on how big or intricate the design is.

I plan on having it done on my ankle this time, since that is where I had the temp tattoo done and it lasted longer. I can avoid putting lotion on that section of my ankle, but I couldn't avoid putting it on my hands since they were very dry.

I have had a henna tattoo as well, also at the Jersey Shore since that's where I live! I got a butterfly on my ankle and it lasted about 6 weeks. I was told to put vaselline on it before swimming, showering, or anything that would get it wet. It REALLY helped it to last as long as possible.

I had one done in Morocco (the real Morocco) on our honeymoon. There are ladies doing them all over the markets in Marrakesh. It was so cool! Mine was a really cool design that was supposed to be the traditional design for a bride's wedding day. I loved it! Mine was still there we we can home from our honeymoon over a month later, although it was starting to fade - and this was after three weeks in the sun, sand, and ocean! It did burn a little bit when they put the stuff on. It was pretty neat, though!

Wow!! I have never heard of these. I might have to look into getting one of these on our upcoming trip.

One warning.......if you have allergies becareful!!! My son had one done and we didn't know it .....but he was allergic to henna. The tattoo was fine at first but then he said it itched, then it blistered and his arm was swollen. We had to go to the doctor's and he had to be but on steriods. For the next month and a half, he had blisters and scabs in the shape of a scorpion.

Wow so many replies, I can't wait to get there and have mine done, I may pack a small thing of vaseline like someone said.

also thanks to Elmo2WDW for her piece of advice I for one don't have any allergies but it will come in handy for a lot of people I am sure, your poor baby...
