This September will be our 2nd trip to Disneyworld. The 1st trip we booked 2 rooms at the ASMO due to their being 5 people in our family. This worked out great!

When I started planning this trip, I spoke with my mom about joining us because we would already have to reserve 2 rooms and that there would be enough room for her and my little sister to join us. This now moved are total people from 5 to 7, with the 2 rooms. I called back and added them to our rooms with no problems and I had 1 reservation number.

I later made another change to the reservation and was told that they could no longer have 1 reservation if there were more than 2 adults in 2 rooms. I told her that I would be paying for both rooms so I did not want to separate the reservation and that there was also a chance that my mom and sister would not be able to join us and I did not want to lose the room because she was unable to come. I was told that the 2 rooms were connected together in the computer and they would be able to pull both reservations at the same time and see that they were with the same family therefore if my mom did not make it we would not lose the room.

I then asked with them splitting the reservation did that mean that we would not have connecting rooms and she said that they could no longer guarantee connecting but that she would note on our reservation and that they always tried to give people what the requested. So I did not worry about it anymore well today I called and the CM did not see where our 2 rooms were both mine they have the 2nd room in my mom’s name and she also stated that they could not guarantee that the rooms were connecting (had already been told that) and not only that but they could not even guarantee that they would be adjoining. SHE SAID THAT THEY COULD ACTUALLY BE DOWN THE HALL FROM EACH OTHER!!!!

WOW I AM LONG WINDED!!

So here is my question if I cancel the 2nd reservation and just add another room to my first reservation.(saying there is only my immediate family) Which would put everything back in my name, 1 reservation number and then just before we leave for our trip to Disney world, I would assume at that point they would have already assigned our rooms(which would have to be connecting), then I could call and add my mom and sister to the room and pay for their tickets and the dining plan at that time. Is there a problem with just adding someone to the room when you arrive at the front desk?

Would that be doable and also when I go to make dining reservation would I still be able to reserve for 7 or do they only let you reserve for how many are in your party(on the reservation)?

THANKS 4 any help!!!

Yes you can add your mom and sis when you get there and yes you can make ressies for all 7 w/ only 5 booked. I would go back to your original ressie if you really want the connecting/adjoining rooms. Best of luck and have a Magical Day!

First, you cannot add the dining plan at check in. It must be added before your arrival (I believe I have read a minumum of 5 days before your arrival). Also, I don't think that having just your immediate family for the 2 rooms will guarentee you connecting or adjoining rooms anyway. They do not guarentee these, and if there are 2 adults in your party they will assume that one adult could stay in each room. They will probably try their hardest to grant your request, as you were told, and so I wouldn't think that adding your mom and sis to the reservation will change the odds, as long as the request is in the system on both reservations.

Are you planning on using Magical Express to get to the resort from the airport? If so, you will need to add your mom and sis beforehand so that they can get booked for ME and get their luggage tags.

If you are planning on buying park tickets directly through Disney it is cheaper to buy them in advance (not by much, but ever bit helps in my mind) so this would be another reason to add them.

Basically, I think you should add them back on. If your only concern is that your rooms might not be adjoining or connecting, I believe you have the same chance of getting the rooms you want with or without them. Good Luck!:goodvibes

What about going through AAA or a travel agfent and see what they can do for you?

I believe that even if you change the reservation back to only you that you will still not be guaranteed connecting rooms, I don't believe they will do that any longer. They will try their best. :)

Rooms are not assigned until check-in...so calling say a week ahead of time may not do you any good at all.
DDP can not be added upon check-in but will need to be added at minimum of 72 hours prior to check-in.
When making your dining reservations...you do not need to be a disney resort guest to make reservations so they do not need to even know how many are in your room. Plus you can make a reservation for a bunch of friends that would be joining you at the meal so making it for 7 people would not be a problem. Although, you should call back and reconfirm the number of people with WDW-DINE if your mother opts out of the trip.

My suggestion...call back ask to speak to the manager on duty. Ask this CM what they suggest you doing since it is not a "done deal that your mother is going and that you would rather not have the rooms down the hall but joined so that you can be with your family.
OR...what I would do instead...5 people can stay in 1 room at POR...so your family would fit if you find out your mom is not going. This would save you a little money too and you would all be in one room.
Or maybe you could get a suite at Music. Depending on the age of your children...it sleeps 6 but if you have a child under age 3 then you can make that 7.

Hope that helps some!
