This is pretty much the way it has been the entire time we have been seeing each other. He & I talk/text nearly every day but haven't gotten to spend much time together. If wasn't for the fact that we were friends/acquaintances for the past two years things wouldn't have even had a chance to develop into whatever it has.

The phrase you used in your OP was "the guy I have been seeing". That could describe a few dates or a much more lengthy relationship. I assumed the latter.

I think we have gone on ONE "date" but have been "seeing" each other for about 6 months. I honestly don't know how to describe our relationship. So "guy I have been seeing" seems easiest.
