I'll be traveling solo to Disney in just a couple of weeks. I'll be there for almost 2 weeks (yay!)

I'm not at all worried about eating alone - in fact I love it. But I will be dining at several buffets and don't want my table to be cleared while I'm in the bathroom or at the buffet.

I made a sign in Word that basically says that I'm a single diner and that I'm either in the restroom or at the buffet and to please not clear my table. I thought I'd laminate it and use it as needed.

Will the servers/bus-staff think that is stupid? It seemed like it would be helpful but sometimes I get ideas that are a little harebrained, LOL!

How about using the restroom just before the meal, instead of during.

As for your table being cleared while you're at the buffet, I've not had this problem at any Disney restaurant. They may take your empty plate and any silverware left on it, but you can still return and continue dining.

Since you pay for the buffets at the end (or sign if you're on the dining plan), until they've brought you the check and you've paid/signed for it, they're going to figure you're not done.

So don't pay/sign and give them that folder UNTIL you're done.

The only time I worried about my table being cleared when dining alone is when I visit the restroom, therefore I usually visit the restroom before I sit down to eat. Aside from that I have never had a problem when visiting the buffet lines.

Every time I've ever eaten at a buffet alone, I've always left a book on the table. As long as you leave something on or at the table that you obviously wouldn't walk away without unintentionally, they won't mistake your table as being abandoned. In reality, unless you've paid up front, they won't assume you've left until you've been gone for at least 10 minutes.

Even whole families go up to the buffet at the same time. Like others said your server will know you are alone and they will assume you are still there if you have not paid yet. I don't think you will have a problem. Enjoy - I am very jealous! alone at WDW for 2 weeks, awesome!

I've always enjoyed those "Be 'Ripe' Back/See You Next 'Thyme' " signs from Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes...
