....help?

Hi all (I'm new don't hurt me...)!
Justa quick question that one of you DLP veterans may be able to answer. I found out yesterday that my mother's booked a trip for me and a friend to go to DLP in April for my 18th birthday. Having JUST got over the initial childish excitement I'm starting to worry a tad..
I know that Disneyland accepts third party bookings but does that still mean I won't have to present the credit card the booking was made on? Obviously as it isn't mine they wouldn't take it anyway but even disregarding all of that, will they allow me to pay for extras ie: meals in the hotel, phonecalls, room service etc. with cash?
An answer would be really appreciated, thanks!

If the booking is paid for you won't need to present a credit card, just all the booking confrimations. If you want to use the 'Disney Card' service (this is your Disneyland Resort Paris identity card given to you when you check in) you just give them credit card details (whatever details you want to use) when you check in and you can then charge things you buy and meals you eat to the Disney Card which will be totalled up and charged to your credit card when you leave.

Welcome to the DISboards! I wish I'd got to go to Disneyland for my 18th!! *jealous*

We went on the Eurostar on our last trip, and did the Express Check-Out, and that involved writing the credit card details down, but we never had to show the credit card we booked with. As for the extras - yes, I think they would go on the same credit card automatically, but you might be able to arrange something whereby you can use a different credit card to pay for those kind of things! I'm not 100% sure so if I were you, I'd get your mum to ring up whoever she booked with and find out for sure!!

We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any thread or start a new one for any questions or comments you have.
If you have a number of questions it is probably best to start a new thread as others may be able to help.

As Steve has said you'll be able to use your own credit card. Just make sure that you have all the confirmation letters etc from your mum when you check in.

Hi and welcome!!!

I think Steve and Emma have already explained things pretty well - we have also never had to present a card and generally work with meal vouchers [available here http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/g...s_park/packages_and_options/meal_coupons.htm] and cash. We have never had a problem with either exchanging money or having Euros accepted.Too many of us [7] to start using the old mastercard, I would never be able to keep track!!and would spend an absolute fortune!

Aww! Everyone's so friendly here ! Thanks for the info guys, I'll be sure to stick around.

Having never have gone to DLP before I'm pretty nervous about how I'll cope with just my friend (I have a tendecy to get lost and stay lost!), but my Mum was kind enough to supply me with the Brit's Guide to DLRP which led me here. Now I walk around clutching it religiously and quoting passages whenever I'm asked a question... regardless of what the question is.

It'd be great if you'd help me plan.. I really don't know where to start and April isn't TOO far away.. Or am I being too optimistic here ?

What rides are you keen to do? Are you a thrill seeker or do you give coasters the body swerve?

You'll be fine - you can see the castle from anywhere in the park and the maps are quite easy to follow - maybe you could agree that if you split up to make your way to the middle of the castle (there's a path that runs through the castle) - then you'll always have the safety net of knowing if you do end up alone it'll only be for the few minutes until you reach the castle.

If in doubt take your mobile phones with you.

How long are you going for and what kind of things do you like, are you a thrill rides person?

I'm defintiely for the thrill rides, although I'm not adverse to the gentler stuff either just so I can say I've done as much as possible!

It's a total relief to know that there's an easy meeting point, I've heard the place itself is pretty huge now.

Well then Space Mountain 2, Star Tours, Big Thunder Mountain and Indiana Jones will all be on your list.
Fast Pass (FP) will become your new best friend It the queues are not bad, pick up a FP. Ride the attraction now and come back again at your FP time

FastPass... even the name is appealing!
Does it work under all circumstances? I mean when the park's packed during the holidays there must be massive FastPass queues too!

Not all the attractions have FP lines, but thankfully the main ones do.
Even in peak summer and Christmas season FP are available but can go quickly.
For example we picked up FP for Peter Pan at 10.45am and they were for 3.30pm. Peter Pan ride is normally out of FP's by midday.

We never go on FP rides because we are thrill avoiders but I did hear some people say on Boxing day that FP queues were 30 minutes themselves, but that was an extremely busy day - I've not seen it that busy even in the height of summer.

There's also Aerosmith's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in Disney Studios which is supposed be great for coaster fans (and hell for others, hey Dee?). The Studios park also has a great Studio Tram Tour which goes 'behind the scenes' and some fab shows - Moteurs Action - stunt show, Cinemagique - history of cinema with added special surprises and Animagique - animation brought to life with Mickey, Donald and a host of friends.

In the Disneyland Park there will also be two awesome shows on: The Legend of the Lion King and my personal favourite Tarzan: The Encounter.

Thank you for the tips! I think I'm looking forward to the shows most of all.. I have to force my friend to watch as many Disney films as I can cram in, because she has truly never seen more than one in her life and I can see her in a permenant state of confusion!

I had never seen Tarzan before our first trip to DLRP and after seeing Tarzan: The Encounter I was keen to watch it - to this day it's my favourite Disney animated film and the show means so much more when I watch it in DLRP.
