help!!

Could you tell me her Internet address.

Shee needs to do the following

Click Start, then run. Type cmd and press return.

at the prompt type ipconfig and press return.

I need to know the IP address and subnet mask. We had a similar problem accessing hp.com a while ago and it was related to the subnet mask.

If she has problems with this then you can PM me with a phone number and i'll try to talk her through it.

Jason

Di helping a fellow DLP Diser is entirely on topic as that is what this board is all about :)

Sounds hopeful with Jason on the case :)

Well, that's a kind thought!! As it affects her PC and both laptops we're fairly cetain it must be the ISP but she's spent 70 minutes on the phone to BT who say it's not a problem with them so it looks like we've hit a brick wall. She's going to bring one of the laptops round tomorrow and if it works from here we'll be fairly certain it's the ISP but as they refuse to admit it's a problem with them I don't know where to go from there. Oh dear!!! Never mind, I'm sure one of our brilliant DISers will come up with a solution sooner or later!!!

Thank you Marco - it's very kind of you. She's tried disabling the firewall but it didn't improve the situation I'm afraid!! :confused3

Regarding restricted sites - the place to look is in Tools > Internet Options > Security > Restricted Sites - then click on sites and if disboards.com or a variation of that is in there then you can select it and hit remove.

Another option is to go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites and add disboards.com by clicking Sites, filling in the web addy and hitting Add.

Hope something works.

did you try Steve suggestion?
looks like a protection problem...

Yes - she put the website into her "trusted sites" but it still refused to trust it!!!

Thanks everyone so much for all your help - I'm not very good with computers so I suspected it would be something obvious that was causing the problem but it appears it's not! Think we're going to quit BT Yahoo (who we've had lots of problems with) and get another ISP - hopefully that'll solve it as I'm sure the problem is with BT. For now I'll just have to survive by getting on DISboards on other computers when I can

Thanks again, you lot are the best! :grouphug:

Thanks so much Reid, will have to get DBF on the case as he's good with computers!

So sorry you are having these problems Rhiannon. I keep getting the same thing with the London Eye site. I can't get on under my name any more, I just get the This Page Cannot Be Displayed page , yet DH or DD can go into the site under their name - all on the same computer.:confused3
I hope you can get something sorted soon. :wizard:

Does that make sense to anybody out there? I thought Rhiannon's problem must be with her ISP but maybe not????? :confused3

Elaine this sound like your security setting is at a higher setting than DD and DH's.

I will get DH to check it, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. The funny thing is when we booked our London eye tickets for last summer it was under my name. Last month we tried to book again for next week and I can't get on any more. :confused3 Not having much luck with London Eye, our tickets were stolen from our postman's bag last week along with our currency. We've received replacement currency but are still waiting for replacement Eye tickets.:earseek:
