I am severly allergic to Poison Ivy, I can't tell yet but I think I am developing some on my hand :( I leave for Disney World on Tuesday morning and this could ruin my trip, does anyone know if there is an Urgent Care near Disney or something where I could get treated if it is Poison Ivy?? I'm so dissapointed and I'm just hoping this is just a skin rash, but wanted to make sure that there is somewhere I can go in case of an emergency.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure there has to be but sorry I don't know where. Could you go to the pharmacy now to get something to treat it just in case? There are lots of great over the counter meds for it now.

Hope it clears up REAL soon for you. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the advise but I can't treat it with over the counter meds :( It prety much takes over my body and I end up getting a shot of cortizone to help me.....I pretty much become a mess!!! Usually Poison Ivy doesn't develop on your hands so I'm still hoping this is something else that won't ruin my trip!!!

Oh no, I'm sorry. Hope you don't have any problems.

If you don't leave until Tuesday, go to your doctor tomorrow or an urgent care clinic.

I was thinking the same thing but usually it won't develop fast enough for them to actually give me a shot for it, I have to be on my death bed and looking like death from a really bad outbreak before they'll give me anything otherwise they usually just tell you "let it run it's course" my problem is if it's on it's "course" when I'm on vacation!! :) ha ha

you might also try taking a Benedryl, have seen it work for other allergic reactions.

My son and I both have the kind of reaction you describe so i understand your concern.

He had a really bad outbreak this summer but refused to go to the doctor (he's over 21). It spread all over his arms, legs, and face but he somehow managed to control the itch factor with the calomine lotion. It eventually dried up but now he has marks all over his arms and legs.

Back to your question. Yes there is a clinic close to WDW. We had to use it one year. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact location but I'd try calling the front desk at the resort where your staying to ask them. I'd want to have the info before I left.

I'd also check with your doctor tomorrow. He may not give you a shot but may give you a prescription (for oral Prednizon) for you to get filled before you leave. if he does, don't wait to get it filled in Florida, your Doctor probably isn't licensed there and they won't fill it.

This is pretty much what it does to me but calomine lotion never helps so I usually end up scratching in the middle of the night which just spreads it worse!! It's a nightmare trust me if anyone understands that it's me!!

Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it.

Vinegar.... it works! You can get pills and the acidity of the vinegar kills the poison! You can bathe in it, but taking it internally works, I use it to KEEP from getting it! Believe me it works! I used to have to take steroids for it, I don't anymore.

Do they sell these pills in a drug store?? Is there a brand name that I need to get? I'm ready to try anything :) thanks

I just remembered, he also wrapped his arms and legs with gauze wrapping so he didn't scratch. He wore long sleeved shirts and long pants. Not a pretty site and something I'm sure you wouldn't want to do at WDW.

Why not ask for a prescription strength lotion just in case.

You can get them in a drug store, but I recommend getting them in a GNC, because the GNC ones are coated! I tried the others, trust me, you WANT the coated ones! :crazy2:

My brother uses oatmeal soap to dry up his poison ivy. And if all these suggestions don't work and you still need an urgent care on your trip, the closest one is near Downtown Disney. Take the road from DTD towards Crossroads. Don't go in Crossroads, make a left at the light. It's on the left side less than a block down.

Feel better!
