Hi,
This is our first trip to WDW for Christmas week....I wondering if anyone could tell me whats your budget for souvenirs and food for a family of four for six days...We are having a sit down meal every night...Just trying to figure out how much to bring with us....Also how much do you give your kids to spend while your there, my boys are 12 and 5???Everything is all paid for but the meals and what to carry with us....
Thanks

We generally budget $75 per day for food for four of us. But we do not eat a sit down meal every day. Most people say $100 per day is good. I am giving my kids each $50 to spend. I take things that I got on sale at disney store, wal-mart, etc. I also take their stockings and fill them on Christmas Eve with disney stuff and disney dollars from family. I give them a small item per day and that helps with the I wants. Also if you take their favorite snacks that helps with food costs. Looks like we will be there around the same time. You will love the magic. Just remember it is busy. Helps to make a list of the kids must do's and don't try to do everything. My kids love the decorations at the parks at night. Have fun.

We generally budget $30/person/day for food--we usually plan one sit down meal per day and we eat most of our breakfasts in our room. We are bad--we don't really budget for souvenirs:o --our girls usually get one thing(under $50)that they want and that doesn't include what I spend on them for t-shirts and pins.

FYI we did a character breakfast and for 3 adults it was $60.00. Then a sit down lunch at the 50's Prime time cafe was $60.00. So expect to pay about that much or more for your sit down dinner...

We went to DW twice in 2002. We have 3 kids, at that time they were 3, 4 and 5 (was 6 on 2nd trip). We're DVC members so we eat most of our meals in our room, almost always breakfast and lunch, and then something like Cosmic Ray's for dinner. We might do 1 or 2 sit down meals (I think we did the Character Lunch at the Land) throughout the trip. Including groceries we spent between $50 and $60/day on food. We also spent about $45/day on souvenirs and gifts. That included a couple of gifts for co-workers, the relatives watching the dog, etc. If you're staying on site you can charge everything to your room, which I like because you don't need to carry much cash. This doesn't include extra entertainment like taking the kids to the GF Pirate Cruise or to Boardwalks Harbor Club. Have a great trip!!

We are a family of three and I budget about 100.00 per day for food. That is one sit down and one counter service and most days an ice cream. We do breakfast in the room. I did not count my CP package in this as it is almost 100.00 alone and grandparents are picking up that tab. You 12 year old will be an adult at fixed price meals so that will add up a little more than ours.
My DS (11) has saved about 50 dollars and we will match that for 100.00 spending money. I buy the shirt and am springing for a penny press book. Snacks that we all eat together, I pay. Everthing else is for him to buy. Worked well last year.

We are a family of 5, so our budget would be a little more than yours, but for your family I would budget:

$100 for each sit down dinner
$30 for a counter service lunch
$30-$40 for a sit down breakfast or about $20 for bagels, rolls, muffings, juice, etc.
$20 a day for snacks in the parks

So.................about $180 on food & figure $20 for souvenirs & it's about $200 a day.

Actually, that's about how much we budget, but we belong to DVC, so we eat many meals in the room. We also take Disney $'s for souvenirs so that's not included in our $200.

You can always come home with any money you don't use :D & save it for the next trip! :teeth:
