I recently saw the TV comercial for the movie " Second hand Lions". When I noticed that the music playing was the theme from "The Rocketeer"! I was personly mad because The Rocketeer is my favorite Disney movie. And my Question is why does disney decide to use old music when the company has acces to literaly hundreds of composser and such. So just imagine a disney flick in the future with "Cinderella" or "Little Mermaid " music!

Someone more knowledgeable than I am may be able to give a better answer, but I do remember learning in a movie marketing class in college that companies will often use music from one of their older films to promote a new film. I guess the old familiar music catches people's attention and get them to watch the commercial. I imagine sometimes they use old music if the new music isn't quite ready, too! I've noticed this a lot in the movie trailers you see at the theater before the movie starts.

Rest assured, the new movie WILL have its own music! :)

Many film trailers are put together whilst the film is still being shot - often before the composer has even recorded a note of the score. In these instances they look at their back catalogue of music and pick something that fits the images.
