Help!

We took our trip to Disneyland last summer, and since then I've stayed away from most of the updates since I wasn't planning a trip and they made me jealous. :

I have a friend heading there for a week in June. June 15th-21st, actually. This month! She's so overwhelmed and has asked me for advice. She has a son that just finished kindergarten and will also be traveling with her husband. Cars Land is a priority, but they want to see as much as possible.

She is thinking 4-5 days. I told her she could buy a 4 day hopper and then upgrade. Is that still true?

They are staying in LA about 45 minutes away and will be driving against traffic, she thinks. I've advised to stay near the park at least one night and do two Disney days in a row, but I'm not sure if she decided to do that or not.

I'm advising her to do DCA on days DL has Early Entry and Vice Versa. Any fast pass changes within the last year? I'm aware of the late return policy being enforced, but that's the last change I remember.

Traffic is both ways often in So Cal during commuting times...especially I5. If she wants to do 4 days at DL, it would be ideal to stay closer than to make the drive from LA to DLR each morning and night. You can usually get good deals on lastminutetravel.com or priceline.

I'm advising her to do DCA on days DL has Early Entry and Vice Versa. Any fast pass changes within the last year? I would also advise to start at the park that does not have early entry and to get there for rope drop (another reason to stay closer). FP times are still enforced...nothing more has really changed.
