I am dying here.........I am dying to stay onsite (WL or BC) Heres the problem, my mom is going with us (me, my son, my hubby) and she wants to stay at HIFS (we've already made ressies there) because of the privacy of the 2 bedrooms and of course the money difference. But I really wanna stay onsite, although HIFS does have very good recommendations, I just cant get my mind off the luxury of just staying in the middle of it all. Somebody help me think of something to change her mind.......please.

we just spent a week at the HIFS and we're now at the WL for a few days then over to the GF for a week.

there is absolutely no comparison between the hifs and wl if you are considering a disney experience

the hifs is a 2 room average hotel room with some kids ammenities

the wl is a deluxe ONSITE RESORT!!

the location alone doubles the disney experience- the hifs was ok but we wont stay there again- the quality of the food and the quality of the hotel is not what we are use to

GET THE ONE ONSITE FOR SURE- ITS WORTH THE MONEY

I think I will wait till the codes come out and then I will lay that in front of her. By the way, I know it sounds like she's paying for the whole trip but she isnt. We are paying for our part and she is paying for hers. (just wanted to get that out there so we dont sound like freeloaders. LOL) Its just her first trip and we want her to have a really good time and space is the issue for her. Luxury and location is the issue for me. My hubby says Im spoiled but I dont think so..............well maybe a little, but ya only live once, dont ya?

If one of you are a Teacher, Nurse or Government Worker you can get a 129.00 rate at the Swan or Dolphin. That might be a meeting in the middle place for you and she. You'd only be a little ways from BC and she'd have the bargain. I would beg and cry a little too. I don't like to stay offsite. Nothing like a beautiful dessert at Beaches & Cream and the family all strolling back to the Swan/Dolphin. The benches, the waterway, the lights of Boardwalk all around you.

get the ap or another rate code for the wl- its around 114+tax right now

good luck

bat4less, Please.....please.......please......please tell me how to get 114+ tax for May at the WL.

dont know bout may- but its at that rate right now for an ap and other codes

may codes should be out anytime now

I hope I get a good one, I just imagine myself in a beautiful hotel surrounded by all things Disney. LOL Nut aint I? Oh well, fun though.:jester:

We are going in May too and waiting for the AP rate or codes to come out. I have already made reservations at the Yacht Club, 2 rooms, one for us and one for our two teens as all of us in one room doesn't work anymore (second bathroom is a god sent!). Hoping for connecting rooms as requested. What price are you hoping for per room? BC and WL are both very nice Resorts and I don't think you can go wrong with either. Which parks you plan on spending most of your time may be a consideration too. With that being said, WL rooms should be cheaper. We stayed at WL in December 2000 and it is a beautiful woodsy resort with two great restaurants.

Perhaps I'm being a little cold blooded here, but since she doesn't want to share a room with you anyway, and you are all paying your own way, why not allow her to stay anywhere she wants and you do the same? I strongly suspect that half the problem with travelling with relatives is getting caught up inthe notion that everyone has to agree about everything, instead of just doing what you want to do, and letting them do the same.

At least, this is the strategy I have. My SIL and her daughters are meeting us in WDW next weekend, and my plan is that if we want to do A and they want to do B, we shall do A, while they do B. I'll let you know if this works, or if it all ends in disaster. ;)

Of course, if staying in different locations is really counter to the plans, and you can't get a WL code, you could try 2 rooms at an All Stars. No hot tub, but you're still in Disney. You probably can't get as cheap as HIFS, but you can probably justify it by the savings in parking (free), convenience (Extra Magic Hour, bus directly to Magic Kingdom gates, charge to room, package delivery to resort). Maybe if your mother only had to pay the same amount she would have paid at HIFS, she'd go along with having her own bathroom (providing this is financially feasible to you)? :jester:

Ciao,
Mort.

I'm not trying to be intrusive, but I may have some insight. We took my mom with us last fall. Although there were 6 of us altogether and we would have needed two room regardless, I still would not have forced my mom to sleep in the same room as the rest of us. She has medical issues and having her own space and bathroom is important to her and I respect that. When we drove to Orlando I managed to find us a suite for the night on our way there in which the third bed was closed off by a door, and on the way back we had two rooms at HoJo's. We had two rooms at ASMu for our first night at WDW and the next five days in a two bedroom villa at BCV. This "separation" really enhanced our vacation since we weren't at each other's mercy as to sharing the bathrooms, using the television, when the lights went out, etc.

Why not go for 2 connecting rooms at AS, or a moderate and let her still pay for the portion she agreed to pay for at HIFS and your family pay the difference? It sounds like having her own space is important to her.

JMHO.

If I were you I'd rent points for a DVC resort. That's what we do when one of our parents comes along. :) Either that or two rooms at a moderate. :)

I have been reading some really good reviews on HIFS and it would probably be a wonderful place to stay (if we were anywhere else other than Disney) but I have been seeing the beautiful Hotels on the Travel Channel and Im going crazy to stay at one of them. I have told her that she can pay the same amount that she would pay at HIFS and we would make up the difference. Im hoping that will work. If it were me (putting myself in moms shoes) I would give up the extra room for location and beauty. Wouldnt you? I think Im gonna play a little dirty and get her to come visit and show her some booklets that have pics of the Disney Resorts and other stuff. She just cant say no. You all keep your fingers crossed.
