Well our wonderful news is that the new company who have taken over the ferry route to Shetland are having T & C issues with their new employees and a strike is looking very likely :sad2::sad2::sad2:. It is now our only way off the island as the flights are all booked up ............does any body know if there are any travel insurance policies that will cover you for industrial action :confused3 ? If we can't leave the island not only will we miss our flights to DLRP, we will also miss our son's graduation :sad1: . I would like to think that it might be resolved within the next few weeks........but neither side seems to be willing to move, and I can understand why they want to strike as they are losing some of their pensions under the new contractor Serco :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

Any suggestions very gratefully received :confused3

Sorry, I can't help with insurance, but I think that if it's known or a possibility at the time of booking, then it wouldn't be covered? I take it you don't have insurance at the moment?

What a nightmare. II hope they manage to sort themselves out before you go. The only other option I suppose is leave the island before your original date if that is doable :confused3

Sorry I can't help either but I hope it all works out ok for you

I'm thinking the same too but just in case I'd get insurance sorted ASAP if you haven't already. Really hope it all comes to nothing and that you have a stress-free run-up to your holiday and your DS's graduation. :wizard: :wizard:

Oh dear ! I pretty much thought as much :sad1: We do have fairly extensive insurance which we get through DH's work.....but the one thing it doesn't cover is industrial action :sad2: Well fingers crossed that they resolve it before then . I suppose we could look at leaving earlier but I don't think there are any cabins left now so that would mean sitting in a chair overnight  but I could even do that to get to DLRP :rotfl2: Please, please either let the talks still be dragging on or that they find some common ground. This really is a lifeline to our island, I know I'm worried about a graduation and a DLRP trip but there are businesses here that can't survive without the link I really think they should have cover in place :offtopic:

Thanks for the replies though :wave2:
