Welcome to California and to Disneyland!

First off, go to City Hall (At Disneyland) to ask for your first visit button. Then get fast passes for the rides that have them available at the time. I suggest doing this for the rides that you are most interested in going on. Also one can use the fast passes past their window of time that is stamped on them. And as each new window opens, you can as well retrieve more fast passes.
My most favorite ride attractions are The Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. During this time frame though, the Haunted Mansion is not in it's normal nor natural state. But instead is in the HMH mode. So therefore if you really like NBC, then you will most likely enjoy HMH. These attractions are located in New Orleans Square. I also love the Indy ride, BTMRR, and the Matterhorn. And I really enjoy as well the Enchanted Tiki Room, where the world famous Jose with his magical singing chorus can be heard performing some of their most favorite melodies. Just make sure not to sit under Jose, for he is a big time snacker, and well, the results are best imagined than realized. ;) I enjoy riding the train around Disneyland too. It is a very nice and relaxing trip. There are different shows and parades throughout the year. If you really do not mind missing and of these events, then I suggest what with two days, and it being your first visit, just concentrate on what you are most interested in doing. So if that includes a parade or a show, then include it in your itinerary. Whatever you may decide to do, the important thing is to have a nice time. Have an awesome time!

Hi! Welcome to Dis! I highly suggest that you read HydroGuy's tips: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483 if you haven't done so already. He has types on how to avoid long lines, how to make sure to get on the rides you want, etc etc. Like the PP mentioned, it is very important to learn how to use the fast pass (FP) system and to collect as many FPs as you early in the day.

If you are not familiar with the rides at DLR yet, you will probably want to read up on them and hopefully narrow down the attractions that you definitely want to check out. You will probably want to check out the entertainment calendar for the days that you'll be there: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/calendar/monthly/monthly?name=CalendarMonthlyPage so you can figure out which activities you don't want to miss (i.e. fireworks, Fantasmic, parades).

Please feel free to let us know if you have any specific questions. I hope you and your friend have a magical first visit :wizard:
