Is it better to book room only and then if a code comes out you change your reservation??

I'm not sure at all how to book because we've always stayed in a house nearby, but we'd like to stay onsite next trip....

thanks in advance.

First, you are going to love  staying on-site!!!! I would book a room I was happy with and happy with the price as soon as I could. You will have to pay one night's deposit within 10 days to keep the ressie, then the rest is due when you check in. If you booked a package now, you would have to pay $200 within 10 days and the rest 45 days before arrival. You can always add tickets and dining later if you have a room only ressie, but if you wait for a code to come out, the room you really want my be all gone. For my December trip, I booked a room I was happy with and waited for the codes. Now that the codes are out, there are no rooms at this resort and I could save by going to a different resort, but this is the one I wanted so I haven't switched to save the money.

Good luck!

I agree with the PP. I always book a room only about 6 mos to 1 yr out- as soon as I know I am going. I get a AAA rate room only ressie and then wait for other codes and discounts. If nothing comes out or there is no availability at my resort with a code then I at least have my AAA ressie. Each discount available is limited to a certain number of rooms.

Do you call Disney yourself to book or let the AAA agent do it?

I don't use AAA so I just call Disney myself. The CMs are great to work with and will give you as many options as you want to hear. If you happen to get one that doesn't seem to understand what you want or can't find what you want, hang up and call back to get a different CM. Out of the over a dozen I've talked to in the last two weeks, only one was marginally good. The rest were awesome!

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES! I didn't realize that only a certain # of rooms you could use with the code!!! I think I will need to look into this room only for my (HOPEFULLY) trip in August! :)
