I booked two one ways on Airtran with the vouchers. For some reason, I was just looking at my confirmation email, and realized my last name is incorrect on the reservation! I didn't change my name when I got married, so instead of having my maiden name, it comes up as my husband's last name attached to mine. Called the airline, of course I cant' make a name change on the reservation. She noted the information in the system, and now I have to hope and pray they let me on the plane in December! She told me to bring whatever I can to help with identification. So I will have my marriage license, my health insurance card, and then my ID. Anyone have any experience with this, or can help me NOT FREAK OUT!!! The agent said it would be up to the airport on what they would accept! We are flying out of Detroit, any suggestions on who I should call?

Also...how will this affect Magical Express?! Reservation at Disney is in my name.

You really don't have to have identification to get on a plane (domestic). You will just be subject to a full screening (wanding, etc). Having the marriage license is a good idea.

But dont' they check your id and your boarding passes when you go through the security point?

Disney won't care as long as the reservation is in the same name as one of the credit cards you can use to pay for it, so relax about that.

On a domestic flight, it is only the airline that can absolutely require you to have matching ID, so that they can be satisfied that you didn't transfer a non-transferable ticket. If they are OK with a note on the record, then that part of it is solved.

Are you saying that the reservation software appended your DH's name to yours, as in MaidenName MarriedName? Or are you saying that all of your ID shows only your maiden name and the ticket does not show that name at all?

If it is the first situation they will probably be OK with your using a combination of your license and the marriage license, but will give you a lecture about making sure that they match next time. If your maiden name is nowhere on the ticket, you'll probably have to do as the PP noted, and ask for a no-ID secondary search. Give yourself an extra 30 minutes or so to get through security.

The ticket is listed in what would be my married name. My ID states my maiden name, since I never actually changed it. I dont' know if the airline is OK with a note in the record, as the agent on the phone did not indicate whether that would be sufficient. And honestly, I do not know how the name mess up happened. I booked it through Kayak. I can't imagine that I would have typed it that way, since it has never been my name! Thanks for the help though!

Stop freaking out. You will get on the plane, although you might have to go through additional security screening. That's it.

Security isn't the primary problem; the secondary search will satisfy them.

You really might have an issue with the airline, though, because they are really sticklers about the whole issue of non-transferable tickets.
Did you personally book the tickets, using a CC in your own name? That might help, if you are the person who actually purchased the things, and your CC info matches your ID.

I'd call the airline and speak to a supervisor to be sure to find out what their position is on this.

I second this. Calm down, don't panic.
My MIL just visited and all of her ID's were expired (Driver's License, passport)...she made it here and back with a minimum of fuss.

Could you go to DMV and get your license changed to your married name?

I doubt it as it isn't her legal name, she never changed it and sounds like for whatever reason she doesn't want to which is fine. If I were the OP I would call the airline back and speak to a supervisor the answer the original agent gave you is inadequate since that is not the way you booked the ticket.

Ok, often times I get annoyed by people on this board who jump all over people for asking a question. Normally, I just think..."get a life". This is one such occasion. I am not freaking out. Just asked a question. Then I clarified what someone had asked me. I appreciate those responses that were indeed helpful, and I will call back and ask to speak to a supervisor.

I hope you didn't interpret my response to be condescending. I sincerely meant for my reply to be helpful.

I hope so, too, rosiep. That's how I took your response - i.e., "Okay, relax. Take a deep breath. Exhale. Another breath... exhale.... Okay, now here are the steps you should consider/take:..." :)
