Hi I am asking my disfriends if anyone else has experienced this. I went to bed fine then woke in the morning with all joints and muscles stiff and hurting. Even joints like fingers, hands, wrists, neck, ect. Anyone have any clue? My thoat is a little sore but all joints are killing me:guilty:

Funny I that was just wondering the same thing. I feel 100 years old today. Sort of like I had a major workout yesterday which I did not. Muscles very stiff and achy all over with a slightly sore throat. Maybe its a weird virus? :confused3

Sorry to tell you that it is quite possibly the flu. That's how it started with my DH.

I agree with flu or possibly fifths disease (which is another common virus)

doesn't fifth's disease have a rash that goes with it? The "slapped cheek" look? I can't remember for certain but that was what I was thinking.

And it would probably be very surprising how many adults get fifths disease and do not realize it.

Kids usually get the bright red "slapped cheeks" with it and hardly any/mostly no joint pain. But I found out adults' main symptions are migrating joint pain and do not get the slapped cheeks. I caught this after my kids had fifths disease, and I now I have an appreciation/understanding for those who have arthritis.

I only found out for sure it was fifths after I insisted the doctor do a blood test. He did not want to as there is no treatment, and it would have run it's course by the time the results came back. However, I needed to make sure it was not a side effect of another medication I was on!

OP, I hope you feel better soon! :flower3:

I had two adult friends who both thought they had arthritis last year that had lingering joint pain for weeks -it wound up being fifths

No Rash- but exposure to children with the virus

Those were my symptoms when I had Mono a couple of years ago. I had no known exposure to it, but sure enough the blood test came back positive for it. Hope you feel better soon!

Aching joints is also a very common sign of Lyme disease.

It was the symptom that got me to take my DS to the Dr's last year. It came on very sudden. We never found a tick bite. And I do know ticks were around in MA last month still, my sisters dog was getting them.

I had fifth's disease a couple years ago after my dd had it. She had the rash, but I did not. I just had the aching joints.

I have gotten achy all over before the flu! Only a few times, but hopefully that's all it is. Take some Motrin and a hot bath!:thumbsup2

Interferons are proteins made and released by lymphocytes in response to the presence of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, or parasites. They raise fever, shift the metabolism and increase blood flow to the areas of the body that need it. One of the byproducts of increased interferon productions is the aching and fever, a sign that your body is defending itself against invaders. Flu-like symptoms are a common side effect for people undergoing immunotherapy treatments. In your case it's happening naturally.

Thanks disfriends I have been freaking out and jumping to all sorts of conclusions. It hurts to move, type, ect. I have a dr. appt. for today and I am going to mention all the above. I forgot that about two weeks ago my youngest who has been fighting a cold got bright red cheeks out of no where. One day it was on one side the next on the other. I just thought he was teething. It would last for almost a day and then disappear. It was really strange. There were no new teeth anywhere. So fifth disease might be a possibility. My feet, ankles, and knees hurt. It is crazy!!! But you guys are helping to calm my fears some.:lovestruc

My son and I both had a virus last week that sounds exactly as you described. There are a few variations around here with some having stomach aches and some having a burning sore throat. It only lasted about 48 hours or less. Hope you feel better soon!
