Need help with booking some excursions we are on the 1/17/04 Western first time 7 day with DH, DS8 and DS11 Can anyone help with excursions or web sites that are trustworth to book DCL site seems so expensive. We are looking to swim with the Stingrays, do the Fury Catamaran sail and as far as key west we have no idea I am open for suggestions I cannot swim just looking for fun stuff to do and I am thinking of booking the bike ride on Castaway Key we just did that in Feb of this year and it was a nice ride to the other side of the island. All you pros please help with reputable web sites or fun things to do on this cruise. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Go to www.cruisecritic.com, look under the islands you are visiting (click on the boards at the top of the page) the royal caribbean board is very busy and has alot of info for on island tours
Here are a few sites for you:
http://caymanislandsdiscounts.com
http://www.nativewaywatersports.com/coral.html
http://www.ocho-rios.com/tours.html
http://www.captainmarvins.com
http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com/StingrayCity

There are many comments on who you shoud use on the CC boards. I have not used any of them yet but plan to when we sail on Explorer of the Seas in October

thanks for the help the cruisecritic site I cannot get onto it says its not found. Also would we better off sticking with a disney shore excursion or is it better to venture off from the price of what I have seen the difference is not that great to venture on our own. Its not that I am afraid to venture off this will be my 3rd time to this islands cruising previously with 2 other ships there years ago. Its just that you know you can trust disney

For some reason the link for cruisecritic does not work but if I type it in it comes up so maybe try that.
People on the boards rave about using some of these on island tours how personal they are, plus you will have a much smaller group, especially for stingray city, it would be much more fun to go with 20 people vs. 75. These are all reputable tour operators and they don't want you comming home and telling people their tour was bad. If it was your first cruise I would say stick with the ships tours but since you have cruised and toured before you kind of know the ropes.

On the trip report board is a great report by DisneyDarwin who did the Western in November with his DD. They did all their excursions independently.

We were on the same cruise, and we did not book a single thing through DCL -- too expensive and these are not "remote" islands, but places that cater to tourists, so it was easy.

Here's what we did:

KW Trolley Tour, just walk off the ship and you get your tickets.

Chankanaab Park in Cozumel (DisneyDarwin describes it very well, and he tells you just how to get there).

Red Sail Sports in GC (www.redsailcayman.com) for a Catamaran sail to the Reef & Stingray City.

I found all these by using these Boards, CruiseCritic, and running Google searches on the various locations. Very easy.

(BTW - If you can't get into a site, just go to Google and search for its name or what you think it is.)
