I thought I lost the controller to my VCR (and the ability to program it to record shows). So I was looking to buy a VCR/DVD combo all-in-one player. Then I found the controller. No reason now to get rid of a perfectly good VCR. I could just buy a separate DVD player now. BUT how difficult would it be to hook everything up together? How do you do this?

I'm not really sure how you do it, but I know it can be done. DH has both our VCR and DVD player hooked up and I don't think it was too difficult for him to do.

There are several ways to hook them together, and it really depends on you and your TV set. (Most VCRs and DVD players come with detailed instructions)

I like to hook the DVD player into the direct VIDEO inputs on the TV set. This can be a pain, because if you want to watch a DVD some televisions make you actually press a button on the Remote, or TV. My TV has Video as channel 0.

The VCR should be hooked up to your Cable/antenna/satellite on the input, then hook into the back of your TV on the output (always remember that an Output should always flow into an Input connection)

Some people think that they should hook the DVD up to the VCR and then into the television (so that they can record the DVD's). the problem with this is that most DVDs are copy protected from being recorded. I think all VCRs after 1999 (not sure of the date)have a chip in them that will not let you copy DVDs or protected Video Tapes. This is a good way to hook things up if you don't have a direct Video Hookup.

I hope I've helped...
