help with Thanksgiving Portofino trip!

My family is trying to plan a trip to Universal at Thanksgiving and we plan to stay at the Portofino. We are having little or no luck with discounts! We're told there are no entertainment rates, AAA rates are OK but nothing special. Not eligible for Fan club as we are all self employed.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions or words or wisdom. We want either deluxe rooms or a Portofino suite.

What about the annual pass rates? It only costs $99 to get an annual pass. You can get a deluxe room for $216/night with aph rate. Regular rate is $309 so I would say that is a pretty good discount.
