Help with son's biology project, please

My 15-year-old is working on a biology project on the human body, and he just asked me what the purpose of hair is. He's having trouble finding anything in his book. Can someone help?

that even in the cave man time it was to protect the body.....to keep them warm ......now we are not as hairy but hair on our head is to protect us from the sun and also the weather ......sounds good to me
