Help with Shopping on Sundays

We are scheduled to be in port (GC) George Town, on a Sunday. From what I understand, mostly everything, except restaurants and a handful of touristy shops, are closed. I was hoping to get some nice items, but are we totally out of luck? If anyone on here has ever been in port on a Sunday, I would love to know if anything is open, when ships are in port? TIA

I am surprised the ship would dock there on Sunday if most things are closed....strange.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Most things are closed. Few places that were open:

Some upscale and perfume shops.
The rum/alcohol store nearby (which also sells rum cakes) - note any liquor purchased there has to be walked to the ship by a store employee with you. Any hard liquor will be confiscated until the end of the trip.
One or two touristy trinket shops.
Note: MAC and Victoria's Secret were closed (my wife wanted to check out those stores) at least as of around 10 a.m. when most places that were going to be opened were already opened.
Might've been a few restaurants, but we didn't really have time to eat at any of them due to our excursion times.

Was there in Feb this past year on Sunday. Yes, most shops are closed except right at the port. My DH wanted to visit their Harley Davidson store (just a boutique. no bikes maybe 3 blocks from the port) and it was open. We did notice many bars/restaurants open however. Some had small shops in them that were open.

Oh that's a bummer, thanks for letting us know. We will have to plan to hit Nassau for shopping on the second leg of b2b. I would have been super sad if we didn't at least have that option. I'll be sure to talk to one of the shopping gurus on board, before we dock and get their advice. Thanks all

We were just there on November 8 on our Magic sailing. It was their "Remembrance Day" parade - their version of Veteran's Day it appeared. So there was quite a lot of people attending the parade and various memorial ceremonies and laying of the wreaths. When you walk out of the port, if you go left toward what appeared to be an Italian Restaurant, you will probably be turned around by a guard before you even get to the restaurant. He said there was nothing that way opened so we walked back toward the port and on past it toward Margaritaville. Margaritaville was open and if I remember correctly, it was attached to like a small indoor mall type hall of stores. There were several little souvenir shops open there as well as the Pandora store. The candy store right outside the port entry was open. The Tortuga Rum place was open but they had the liquor area cordoned off with a sign I believe saying no Sunday sales.
