Help with Selling a Contract

I presently have a < 100 point add-on contract that I would like to sell… I have a few questions:

(1) I know that many of you say it is very expensive to sell a small contract via the resale agents. If I attempt to sell it myself, are the classifieds on TUG going to be my best option?

(2) Any suggestions on what price I should ask for? Especially if the contract could be considered “distressed.” (all 2003 points used)

(3) A big question. I know that any reservations tied to these points will immediately be cancelled. I’m going to call this morning, but I’m pretty sure I “do” have some upcoming reservations using these points. How can I preserve these reservations? Will MS “take my word for it” – that I intend to sell the contract – and let me “borrow” 2004 points from another contract and re-allocate them to the existing reservation – freeing up the points I wish to sell?

(4) I believe some title companies have been mentioned on the boards before that can assist in the transaction. Can someone give me their name(s), again? (I think it’s been said that there is one that specializes in DVC contracts)

(5) Any other “words of wisdom?”

I am purposely not providing specific details, so that this post can not be construed as a “for sale” post – i.e. no mention of home resort, use-year, or number of points. (I realize this could significantly influence your answer to question #2)

And don’t ask me what I intend to do with the $$ - ‘cause I know you all won’t approve… :)

Thanks in advance...

Tug (www.tug2.net ) and Timesharing Today ( www.tstoday.com ) are good sources for help in listing resales. TSToday even offers documents that may be useful.

Your price should be whatever you will be satisfied with- keeping in mind that Disney might exercise ROFR. If you wish to sell it quickly, a low listing may get an offer faster- even though DVC may buy it themselves.

I'd ask MS for help reallocating the points involved. If any reservations are for waitlisted dates, you may not be easily able to merely switch points, but MS can certainly advise how to accomplish what you want.

There is a Timeshare Closing Service that many have worked with. I don't have the information in front of me now, but perhaps someone else can share.

Good Luck!

Thanks, Doc .... knew I could count on you...

The number for Timeshare Closing Services is:

(407)370-2373
fax (407)352-4792

Good luck!

Renee,

Have you used this company? I've looked at their website. Which or their services did you actually use?

Also. I looked at a "for sale" ad on the TUG board. One seller offered to pay the "DVC Transfer fee" if the buyer would pay the escrow fees.

What does the "DVC Transfer fee" amount to?
