help with room request

I don't have a certain room in mind but did request non smoking in a certain building. When I called to see if I got it they said they don't assign rooms until you check in. Now I'm confused?

It has been my experience that if that was your only request, the chances are very good that you will not have a room preassigned. It is easier and more flexible for the resort to assign that when you check in. It can also work out to your advantage that way since you will probably get a room that's ready instead of waiting for someone to checkout and having to get the room cleaned before you can use it.

One other thing that may or may not have happened in your case is the reluctance of the resorts to give out information about what room has been assigned to anyone for security reasons.

minniek, Don't be confussed. What they do is assign you to a certain building that is non-smoking.If you would like a certain
building location ,you can call a few days before you leave and ask for it. Depending on what time you check in,the plastic card they issue you already has the room # eletronically coded on it.
The official check in is 3:00 pm , I have never been that lucky to get in that early. They will check your luggage and issue you a card with a number to call . This is when you get your room number. Just hit the parks and call later on .
Like I said, your plastic card is ready to use. I would like to mention, if anyone in your party has an allergy to smoke,etc.
I would mention it at check in or call ahead of time. They will
guarrantee non-smoking for medical reasons.
