help with reservation- question

Hi,

I'm wondering about the reservation process. I'm hoping to do a split stay when my 7 month window opens next month. I'd like to have a backup at my home resort (SSR). My idea was to do a studio and then a 1 bedroom, depending on what was available 5-7 nights in the first, and 5 nights in the second (a total of 10-12 nights).

That being said... I was wondering if I book say 6 nights in a SSR studio first, could I easily change that to 5 nights (and just cut out one night) at my window? OR, do I have to drop the entire ressie and start from scratch? I hope that makes sense. So what I'm wondering is if I book more studio nights at SSR than I need, can I just change the ressie and drop out nights, or would I have to drop the entire reservation and start over.

Now that I have a better idea of our January travel dates, I'm planning to call MS tomorrow to change our current reservation... but I'm unsure what the best approach is to have a back up plan if I don't get other resorts, but also be prepared for a split stay at another resort (or possibly two other resorts entirely if it's open!).

You can take days from the end of a reservation without starting over. I hope you get what you want at the 7 month window. I think you will be lucky in January!
