Another vote for USAA if you're eligible! Fabulous service and great rates! They have our mortgage (best rates and I checked lots) and we got our Home Equity loan through them and have a variable rate of Prime -.5% Yep, that's Prime MINUS 1/2 percent!! We didn't mind the variable as we're moving next year anyway....
Our first mortgage was with Chase and I never had any problems with them at all, so I'd recommend them, too, if you're not eligible for USAA.

LOVETHATMOUSE Most mortgages will be sold at some point, so it's completely safe to do it. Just be glad they told you up front so you're not surprised when it happens. Our very first mortgage was sold before we even signed the closing papers and we had to sign a notice at closing that we were told about it. It was out of the blue (like I said, first ever mortgage) and the closers and our agent had to explain to us that it happens all the time and in fact, MOST of the time. I could give you a general financial reason behind it, but as that's not my forte, I'm afraid I might confuse us both by trying....but it's completely safe. Go with the best rates and lowest closing costs!!We just a quote - a very good one too - from New Century Mortgage. The gentleman told me they service approx. 20% of the refinances and 80% go to Wells Fargo. The place we have our mortgage through now services it, so I don't know if it's "safe" to go with a company that does not do this. Any thoughts or suggestions?
