Help with price comparisons for packages-excel spreadsheet

Hi Everyone!

I have been trying to do alot of pricing comparison based on the new 7/5 package and purchasing room only with A/P passes on own. I had tons of pieces of paper around and was getting totally confused. I worked on this morning a Excel spreadsheet to help me. All I have to do now is input rack rates, ticket prices and package prices and it will give me all the comparisons. If you want to compare two different hotels all I did was do one sheet for one resort saved it. Did another for another resort and saved it under another name.

If anyone would like me to email the spreadsheet to them I will be more than happy to.

Hope I didn't confuse you all to much with my explanation. I can walk you through it to if you like. Just made my life a bit easier right now contemplating this deal.

I would love some info on this!
Right now I have 13 nights booked at POP and will be buying (2) 7 day PHP and (1) 5 day PHP (our son will not be with us the whole time).
Do they allow you to book the 7 for 5 if all people in your group are not staying the same amount of time??
I was also wondering how they deal with more than 7 nights!
I need to figure out if it is better deal to book seperately or with the package!

Also...right now I have it set up for up to 9 nights...that is what I am planning for. I will try to work on it now for being able to use it for up to 15 night. (LOL...wish I could do 15)

Hi Grover...

As I just post I am trying to work on for more than 9 nights. Also my original spreadsheet included the 11.5% tax. POP is 12%, correct me if I am wrong? If you give me the rates you have I can plug it into the spreadsheet for you and send it to you. Include the rates for hotel and tickets you have. Regarding about paying for the person for the 7/5 deal in the event their trip is shorter....I am not sure. I would highly doubt they would discount that but you would have to ask the reservationist.

you would need to leave off the person not there the whole time but make sure the room you book will accomodate that many, then you would add him room only AT THE RESORT when he goes to check in and pay the additional room fee for an additional person.

About staying longer than 7 nights...I have heard a couple people say that they were allowed to book the package longer, but I am not sure what kind of discount was given on the additional nights.

For the upcoming 7/5 package:

On mousesavers it says you have to buy 5 nights at the regular, basic dreammaker package to get 2 nights free. For example, 5 nights at BWI, standard view, for 8/21-8/26, on a dreammaker package is $2233.70, now add on 2 nights free, so you get 7 nights, with 8 days UPH for $2233.70. (note: this is just for two adults) We are going for 10 nights though, so what I did was price it on 8 nights at regular price dreammaker package, which is $3395.44, I then add on 2 nights that are free. My cost for 10 nights, 11 days UPH would be $3395.44. I THINK this is how it may be done. UNLESS they offer additional discounts for extra nights you pay for, but I am not sure of that. In my rationale, they are limiting you to 2 free nights, no matter what...you have to figure that you have to spend for 5 nights just to get 2 free added on, I would think you'd have to add another 5 paid at full price to get another 2 free. I, too have been trying to figure all angles and I still come up with AP or room-only codes coming out cheaper,even with buying park passes for my needs--even with renewing my AP. My calculations right now are telling me that the package for me will be about $832.00 more than going the route of renewing my AP and purchasing a PHP for my DH. I don't particularly care for the UPH anyway, we go to Disney so much that we don't even do all the parks every day anymore, so UPH is a waste for us. At least w/PHP they don't expire.

Everyone needs to come to their own best plan, and so far this package, unless additional nights are discounted or given free, is not right for us.

Hi Grover...If I read your post correctly this is roughly what I came up with....



ORIGINAL:

13 nights POP (Rack Rate w/tax) $1,441.44
2 (7 day PHP) & 1 (5 day PHP) $ 948.98

Total $2,390.42



The following is based on 7/5 packages with a total of 6 hotel only nights (rack rate) added on to beginning and end so you can utilize all days of UPH:

7/5 package based on 2 adults: $1231.70
6 nights rack rate w/tax: $ 665.28
1 (5 day PHP) for son: $ 275.86

Total $2,172.84

***NOTE: Like the last dis member posted...you just add your son to the room on the days he will be there. Don't know about any additional charges for that. If anyone can answer I would love to know.

Now note...some room discounts for the rack rates may become available to you that is offerred to the general public at this time. My spreadsheet shows all amounts of discounts from 25-45%

If you want the rest of the information let me know! Hope this helps a bit....remember LOL...not an official reservationist...but have much experience with accounting...so at least it is a starting basis!

You are exactly right...there are so many scenarios involved that each one has to look at what benefits them the most.

For people not interested in the A/P...and want to stay additional night to benefit from the UPH...you make a seperate reservation for the package and a room only reservation for the extra nights. And hopefully with some room only discounts it will benefit. The only thing with this is you need to give 2 deposits rather than one due to 2 seperate reservations. I look at it more paid off of my vacation I guess LOL..

In my scenario I think I am going to book the 7/5 and 2 nights seperate now so I don't loose the nights. If A/P discounts come out for my time frame then I plan on switching to A/P. Just can handle the stress at the last minute of waiting for A/P discounts. Plus I am at least guaranteed my other package.

Hi Kim...
I am not sure what the tax rate is for POP.
The current price I have is 103.00 (including taxes) for a preferred room (this is the AAA) rate.
So that give me 1339.00 for room at AAA rate
and 930.33 for tickets (using ticketmania prices)= 2269.33 grand total.
So it looks like your calculation still saves us money! I wonder if they could give us 6 nights at the AAA rate??? That would save about another 30.00 dollars..
I wonder if there will be a additional charge to add our son on for room only-he will only be 12.
I also wonder if they will adjust the 7/5 for people who are going for more nights..there was some mention of it on another thread!
I guess we will find out..

Or another option is if you post your nights and what kind of tickets, dates, resort ect. I can fill it into the spreadsheet and then mail it to you or post the results here.

Also...sorry for the delay in responses. My daughter had Scarlet Fever all last week and then my son started with a fever Saturday night and I panicked! LOL But he is better today. So this was the first chance I have gotten to get online!
