Help with post baby tummy

I have heard so much about Spanx, am going to WDW in June will it be too hot to wear these? I don't want to look fat and be miserable but then again I don't want to sweat like a stuffed pig and be miserable either. I too have the c-section baby pooch!

I've never worn mine to an amusement park, but I think they will be too hot to wear for more that a few hours! mine only make an apperance for church and as soon as we get home I get out of them. they are comfortable enough, but you do realize you are wearing them.

I too have the baby pooch. After 3 babies I really don't think that extra skin is going to shrink up. I swear I do my crunches (?sp) every night, I slather on loads of cocoa butter lotion, I have lost 30 pounds in the past 7 - 8 months, and I actually thought I looked pretty good other than the loose skin on my tummy, I thought I looked good in my clothes, so I decided to try on my swimming suit (we'll be at disneyworld in a little over a month) and OMG I look like I am 4 -5 months pregnant in that thing, UGH!!! I guess I'll have to check out the spanx too. Oh and pilates. I did order a new suit though so when that gets here we'll see if I'm going swimming on this trip or not, LOL...

On a serious note, is it even possible to get that extra skin to shrink back up? Or is there a tummy tuck in my future:scared1:

Have you though about one of those miracle suits? They are supposed to hold you in sort of like Spanx i think. i keep thinking that I might order one for this summer!

I would never wear Spanx to WDW. Too much trouble! I wear the ones that come up under my bra and they do wonders (C-section 13 months ago), but I would be so hot and so tired of trying to wiggle that thing up and down for potty breaks--this would be quite tough if you are sweaty.:rolleyes1 (and yes, they do make them with what they call a "gusset" but, um, well, I find it is better for me to pull them down)

For those of you discouraged about losing the weight while nursing, I did lose back down to close to my pre-baby weight by 6 months, but it was at about 8 months that the weight really started to come off. I now weigh 15 lbs less than when I got pregnant (but in all fairness, I needed to lose weight then, I think I was eating extra in anticipation of morning sickness while we were "trying"). I'm hungry and thirsty all the time too, but the calories needed to feed a growing baby start to make up for that at some point, it seems (at least for me.)

But still, 15 lbs lighter and I have a wierd, flabby belly, and I hate it. I always struggled with not having a really flat tummy, but even though it was a little pouchy, it was firm. Makes a BIG difference in how I look in clothes. It makes me look like I weigh more than I do. Also, I always really did have a nice tush. My DH called it my "juicy booty." It is GONE. Flat. And my hips are the same width, so it didn't just stretch. It is almost like that part of my body is now backward--sticks out in the front/flat in the back. Not the way you really want to go:rotfl:

Since so many people seem to have this problem post-baby (and I include myself) maybe we should all quit worrying about it so much and just enjoy our families. :hippie:

I just came across this in my Redbook. yummietummienyc.com they have pretty cute tank tops that they claim will suck you in, they are specifically made for post baby bodies. I think they look really cute but they are expensive and I personally couldn't bring myself to spend $52-$62 on a tank top. My needs are for a swim suit anyhow, I don't have a problem with the way I look clothed it's in my swimsuit that I want to cry. Anyhow, I just thought I would throw it out there in case someone might be interested.

I am also a big fan on Spanx! I wear the one that goes from thighs to right below your bra! i am thinking I'll need one of those miracle bathing suits that sucks it all in come summer! LOL Maybe if I wear two I will look like i did before i had children! As for getting rid of the pooch I am not sure it is possible. I've been trying since my 8 yr old was born! Thought I had it about under control then had baby #2 (22mnths). Now i am back at the starting line and man am I tired of fighting the baby pooch! Must try pilates!!

I was hoping Sarah who made spanx would move into bathing suits. I love my spanx and wear them all the time! :thumbsup2

I hate having Mommy belly, so these make me feel better about it.

You are so right. We moms are too hard on ourselves. How many dads do you see out there wearing spandex to conceal their beer bellies???? Just the image of a man trying to squeeze into SPANX is enough to get me laughing!

I'll add in my stories. I'm tall and normal weight according to the charts, however I have alot of belly fat, even pre-kids when I was a rail. All of my weight is right on my belly. A few months ago I was standing in a long line at a store holding my DD (then about 20 months). The woman behind me said, "Oh this must be so tiring for you." I said, "Oh it's not so bad, I'm used to it (thinking she meant holding my son while waiting in line.)". She said, "but being so far along and having a little one must be hard." I just about fainted. Not only did she assume that I was pregnant, but that I was so far along!!!!! I wanted to die!!

I do have one of those slimming bathing suits. They're pretty good at sucking it in, but the problem is they are super hard to get into (and please don't look in the mirror when you're trying to wiggle into it. The fat morphs into some pretty weird shapes and I was kinda grossed out). Also, they tend to pop the fat out in a sausage like manner wherever the seams of the suit are--kinda a dead give away. I've worn other non-Spanx brand "control undergarments" but have always been disappointed. The ones that go under your bra have rolled down creating and even bigger problem. Do spanx acutally stay in place and not create rings of chub? I would seriously look into them if they stayed in place.

Spanx are the best I've found, and even their brand "Assets" at Target are good, and a little cheaper. I've never had a problem with Spanx rolling down, but we may be built differently. Regular-rise pantyhose, however, are another story for me. Yes, that does look worse than I did before. The only problem I have with the high-rise Spanx is that I am long waisted and now that I have had a baby, I have back fat :scared1: and I need my husband to give them a good yank to get them high enough in the back so that they don't squeeze a lovely roll between bra and Spanx. I can do it myself, but it is hard work. Easier for him, as embarassing as it is to need help concealing one's back fat.:scared:

And thanks to the Mom who posted about us all just not worrying about it. I have found this tread to be quite cathartic and comforting. Maybe we are all just so traumatized by the Hollywood image. I just know all those super skinny in 6 months moms have had a tummy tuck.

All this aside, it is totally worth it. I'm off now to get my sweet little bundle:love:

Amen to that! I heard that Jennifer Lopez was working out 3 times a day already after her twins. I don't know if it's true, but that explains how stars get in shape so quickly after having children...and I'm SURE that the majority still need a tummy tuck.

Every time I think of getting a tummy tuck, I realize that there's nothing wrong with the way I look. When you look at classical art nudes, the women almost always have a little bit of a tummy. It's just our sick, twisted culture that tells us that we must be super skinny and yet have a large chest. Maybe because that body is so unusual in nature we want that???

I will check this brand out, I love my Spanx but they are not cheap to invest into pairs of them.
