Please help me decide between AB & the mansion area. We're going with a 4 & 6 yo. Our first priority is good bus transportation and proximity to a bus stop. We'll be doing the EMH every day. We normally have a quick breakfast in our room and don't eat at the resort for many meals so being close to the food court is secondary. What area/building should we request for the best & most convenient bus stop?

I vote for the AB section. I suggest that you want to be near the Main bus stop, because I've seen the bus get full before he reaches all the bus stops (Main is first in front of the Main building) and then just drive on to the park, bypassing the rest of the stops. I'd hate to be standing there watching the bus drive right past me. AB is definitely closer to the main bus stop than the Mansions and try to get buildings #14-#17 (I've heard that #14 is closest) We were in #17 and it was still much closer than the mansions, and I've stayed in every Mansion.

We just came back from POR two weeks ago (we have 3 kids 8,5, and 3 yrs old). I would also say the AB, we were in bldg 15 and it was a good location to the south bus stop (main). But I think bldg 14 would be the perfect location to everything. I would say the main stop from Bldg 15 is about a 3 min walk. Our children really love AB, there are always little creatures to look at and for the adults it is very scenic.

We have stayed at four different buildings AB #28, AB #37, Acadian House, and Parterre Place. AB #28 is not convienient to the bus stop. AB#37 is very close to the North Depot, as is Acadian House. Parterre Place is not very close to a bus stop, but is imho, the best looking building on property with some of the best views of the river. Also, we have never stayed there, but, Magnolia Terrace is very close to the east depot.

we were in alligator bayou 2464. We were on the second floor. The locations was nice. Steps away from the quite pool and laundry and just a couple of steps more to the west depot. Very nice at night. Con was the very long walk to the main hotel area/food/theme pool. But not undoable. About a 5-10 minute walk with children. But long after full days in the park.

We were at POR last month and obseved a bus pattern different from what everyone else seems to report.

Every morning, we took the East bus depot, the bus stop behind Magnolia Terrace. We noticed that in the mornings, the busses went to the back bus stops first, and then went to the main (south) depot before exiting POR. That depot was always full of people who had just eaten at the food court, and often people waiting there had to wait for another bus cause the crowds at that stop were so large, whereas there were only a few people waiting at the back bus stops. POR didn't share a bus with POFQ in the mornings.

Now, at night POR and POFQ did share busses (except at the MK). At night, POFQ was first, then POR's main (south) depot, then the back bus stops at POR.

I originally wanted to make sure I used the main depot in the mornings based on what I read here. I am glad DH talked me out of that. Every morning of our trip, that depot was very crowded and last on the circuit.

Wow, Dallas-lady, thanks for the tip. That IS backwards from what I've experienced the last several trips to POR (although last trip there was a little over a year ago).

Building 14 is where we just got back from (October 26)...I had requested it based on reports from this board and found it to be great. We could get to the main bus stop in less than five minutes, and easily to the food court in 3 minutes !! It was quiet, but a little far from the MAIN pool, but there was a quiet one very close. We had a lot of trouble with crowded buses, and ended up standing quite a few times for our travels which was a problem, but purely a 'timing ' situation I believe.

Busses are dispatched on a dynamic route in the mornings. It could be FQ & South Depot... and then another bus does West, North, East, South. That's commonly what happens.

At any rate, I've never stayed at PO:R, so I dont know building locations. However, the West Depot would be the best bus stop. During busy times when it makes a difference, busses are more often dispatched to the outer perimiter first... and from there, they then go onto South Depot.

When we stayed in bldg. 35 AB, waaayyy in the back, we used the West bus stop. It never had very many people at it. And it was only a 3-4 minute walk from our bldg. When we stayed in Magnolia Terrace we never used the East stop. THere were always a lot of people. However we did use the main stop, depot, and that was pretty crowded. So, in hindsight, I guess we should have used the east stop vs. the main depot. But, the west stop was never congested.

Thanks everyone! I was leaning toward asking for the AB section. I think we might prefer to be in the back toward the west stop. When we stayed at CSR, we were in the Casitas, close to the #2 bus stop. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and liked not using the main bus stop.

we just got back this morning stayed in 1649 2nd floor really nice hotel gave up on bus service the 2nd day drove everywhere after that. The bus was so crowded when there was room on the bus we were standing room only, if we got on the bus not that I am complaining we dont mind driving
