We thought we would take advantage of the good rates and get our dollars sorted out now.

We are planning on paying for our restaurant meals, souvenirs etc. with credit cards but obviously will need some cash. How much would you suggest we took in cash with us? Do you recommend taking any travellers cheques? I don't want to get stuck with bringing any t/c back because it'll probably be a few years before we can afford to go back again.

How much do you think we should budget for each day? We are 2 adults and 3 DD age 11,9 and 7. We have already bought our tickets etc.

I would be grateful for any help

Elaine

It rather depends on your spending styles. If your staying in a villa, eat brekkie at home ( cereal and toast) have fast food counter service for most meals and the occassional "nice meal" I would budget $100 a day and don't be suprised if it comes in a little higher for food and drinks (buying drinks in the parks can work out expensive. If you're on a budget it's a good idea that if you have to buy the kids a drink to get them one ( with no ice) to share. If you get them one each they can't drink that volume quickly, it either gets spilt or the ice melts leaving a nasty taste. If you have a spare cup or two it helps with arguments over who gets first sip and who's "backwashed". It also helps you to keep an eye on how much each of them is drinking) . If you like to eat out twice a day or more and prefer "full service" restaurants in the parks then you can double that. Souvenirs again it depends on your taste, IMHO you're better off setting limits, I.E. kids you have a maximum of $x00 to spend on cuddly toys and ornaments. Allow for the fact again that what ever limit you set will be tested and depending on how soft you are with the kids adjust it accordingly LOL.

Even if you do take travellers cheques, and dont spend them all, they can easily be taken back and you will be reinbursed the money back, lots of places are doing free commision and buy back,

I've been struggling to decide a budget.... I always know roughly what we would take if when we visit Europe, but never being to Disney in the states before it? I've found the advice here useful...
