Help with Photos Please!

We were on the Dream 2 weeks ago still had printed pictures. Pictures are expensive that is for sure but nice to have since it is hard to get a family picture these days .

They printed on the Magic last week. We still had the album books to go through.

Thanks. Interesting then, that they are not offering the "plus all your prints" addition for (which my wife always pre-purchased) to the digital package. Maybe it can be added onboard.

The "plus all your prints" option isn't actually prints of all the photos taken. But all prints that are printed by Shutters and placed in your folder. Usually the prints in your folder are not all the photos taken.

Understood that could be the case, however I don't recall ever having photos in our digital "folder" that weren't actually also printed.

Anyway...I had submitted an inquiry to MyCruisePhotos on their website. Didn't expect to get an answer right away (assumed it would be a couple of days), but did. Here is the response:

"We are moving away from prints to be more sustainable. We will not be offering digital and print packages pre-cruise. They may have some print packages once onboard, however not unlimited. "

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me - if, as the recent reports in this thread indicate - most photos taken are still being printed and placed in the folders. If "sustainability" is truly the goal (although most times that it is usually just the politically correct PR spin instead of stating the real goal - cutting costs), it would make more sense to give incentives for guests to purchased the already-printed photos rather than have to dispose of them.

I would guess that this means that they are preparing to stop printing photos in the near future, or at least printing less of them, so they don't want to pre-sell a lot of print packages, and then have trouble honoring them once they go fully/mostly digital, but if they are still printing photos on a given cruise, then they will offer the print package on that cruise.

That is what they insinuated in a follow-up question.

That would free up a nice chunk of space - particularly on the Dream/Fantasy - if they don't need to utilize all those folders. Perhaps, they just add more kiosks/screens to view photos.

Can you still GET prints onboard? Just ones you order? Or is it ALL digital? And if it's only ALL digital, do they offer any way to get it other than a CD? My computer is new and doesn't have a CD drive.

I believe they use a USB for the digital package now.

I would also hope they would print ones you requested. I think having to get a USB for just one or two photos would a bit of overkill.

We've pre-ordered the hard-cover photo book for $140 (10% discount for booking before). This comes with up to 34 pics. Our logic was that we have multitudes of memory makers and the like from lots of different parks but we never get round to printing anything off!
This isn't printed on board but is posted home after (worth noting extra $15 for postage to the UK!)

We were on the Harmony of The Seas last month and their photo provider, who has the same parent company as Shutters, did not have any printed photos that I saw. You just looked online and selected which ones you wanted to have them print. The only "all photo" option was digital on USB. I'm guessing since they have the same parent company, that is the way they will be going. Makes sense as it saves wasted paper/ink/chemicals.

Ugh. Heard back about how the digital package is delivered. Dream Class gets a USB. Classics are stuck with the soon to be outdated (and already is on a lot of computers) CD. :(

I remember someone saying the Wonder doesn't have the photo library anymore - it is all physical. Can you still get prints on the Wonder? I will be upset if my only option for pictures is my own camera...

This does seem like pretty outdated, but there are lots of options for getting files from CD to USB/hard drive: an external CD drive, a library, a friend...

You don't have to use your own camera.

ETA: I hope that didn't come across as Snarky. I didn't mean it that way. Just trying to be helpful.

We did the all digital package for our 7 night cruise last March and I just purchased it again for our upcoming Alaskan cruise. It was great getting all the formal night/semi formal/pirate night pictures of our family and the kids individually. They came around at dinner and also took pictures of our table. My children had tons of photos taken with the characters also. Photographers were available on castaway cay to take beach pictures. It was totally worth the money. Definitely buy ahead of time to save 15% and like others said you can cancel on board if you do not feel you got your monies worth. I would have never been able to choose just 20 pictures. And, for once, I actually got to be in the pictures instead of always taking them.

I'm thinking about getting the Package for my brother + and my nephews as a gift. Are photographers wandering all over the ship or are they only in MDRs, meet and greets, by the pools etc

There are photo location set ups (primarily in the atrium). And roving photographers in the dining rooms as well as on Castaway Cay.
