I can't find anything on the DVC or wdw site listing the discount for DVC owners. Where is it , I've been all over and can't find anything.
Maybe I need a nap, just got my laptop back and forgot to backup my music .:rotfl2:

Log in to the member site, click on the "Member Privlidges" at the top of the page. Then click on "Member Perks" and select "Walt Disney World Resort". You'll see a link for the passes there.

There was another announcement about the PAP on the website but my guess is that the DVC took it down when they found out that the store discount was reduced by Disney from 20% to 10% for next year.

I saw the notice of the 2013 shopping discount change as well. Wish I had known that before buying the PAPs earlier this week with the special pricing. The extra discount is (was) a big benefit for us.

Excluding the $399 promotional PAP, the difference in price between a DVC AP and a DVC PAP (including tax) is $143.78 ($132.06 for renewal). If you are only buying the PAP to take advantage of the difference between the 10% and 20% discounts on selected merchandise, and not using it for minor park entries, you would need to make over $1,300 in discountable merchandise purchases to break even.

Dis experts,

Pls help me with some calculations. If my family of 4 (3 disney adults plus 1 child) would need 8 day MYW tix non park hopper plus water park, does it make more sense to buy PAP at $399 each or normal tix?

It's possible we'd be able to use the PAP twice in a 12 month period but not set in stone due to school schedules. I was still thinking PAP is cheaper due to water park tix. We must do Typhoon Lagoon!

Thx

It's really going to come down to how many days / trips you think you will take and whether you need the park hopping feature.

An expiring 8 Day MYW ticket with the Water Park & More options but no hopping is $378.08 (adult) & $358.91 (child). If you add park hopping, prices are $401.51 / $382.34. If you add park hopping and the no-expiration feature, the prices go up to $630.48 / $611.31.

The DVC PAP is $425.94 (adult or child, same price). The PAP includes park hopping and all of the options included in the Water Parks & More group.

All prices include the tax.

Assuming we are comparing the 8 day w WP & More MYW tickets with the DVC PAP:

For roughly an extra $48/adult and an extra $67 / child, the DVC PAP gives you park hopping and a "free 2nd trip" if you can go again within 1 year.

Good luck deciding. I assume you know you must purchase by 12/31/2012 to get the $399 deal.

Here are a list of prices to help. Good luck!

Also, you may want to consider if you are going back again, within 366 days of your 1st entry. If so, a PAP may be worth it.

Agree, regular pricing does not support a PAP purchase for the purpose of additional shopping discount. I suspect the water parks are the additional feature many rely on to justify. The PAP. However, wrongly go to one water park a year.

It was the special pricing offer ending this year that prompted us to consider it for the additional shopping discount and our annual water park visit.

But now they have announced they no longer will have the additional 10% discount.

When did they announce no 10% discount? I just saw the 20% was being reduced to 10%...

PP was referencing the drop from 20 percent to 10 percent.

Thanks for that breakdown, Mike! Sure puts it into perspective for me. And, of course, for this year with the promo, the PAP makes total sense for us, even with "only" a 10% discount.
