We just put the pool up the middle of last year. So we started the last year with new clean water. Then it sat over the winter and when we took the cover off it was slightly green but not bad.

Then it rained and rained and rained. Now it's very green! We've dumped algicide and clearifier and shock and even gallons of bleach in. It's still the same.

Do you have a suggestion? More chlorine? Lots of bleach? I just dont know what to do and we don't want to have to pay someone to come out and clean it.

TIA!!!

I haven't had a pool in years but always had that problem because I didn't use a cover. Have you been running the filter? I would clean the filter and shock it again. If that doesn't work go to your pool supply place. They were always very helpful to me. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.

Do you have a Pinch-A-Penny near you? I take a sample of my water to them and they test it and tell me what I need for free.

We had this problem last year after our pool cover ripped. We had the water tested, paid a fortune for a bunch of chemicals and 2 weeks later our pool was still green. So we bought a pump and drained it and then refilled it-only took about 2 days. It would have been cheaper and faster if I just did this in the first place! Once it is very green, I think it is very difficult and time consuming to get it back to clear.

Lots of chlorine to kill the algea, you need to vacumm it up, and keep the filter running non stop until it is done.
