I'll be booking OKW for my first trip staying at the resort. I spent the night there once before checking into Kidani and thought the resort was nice but we only spent one evening there.

For my dates (early Dec) near HH is sold out.

Please OKW fans, share some tips with me, including where to request a room if I can't get HH.

I'm trying to get excited about it, but usually stay at BWV and have no idea what to think of spending an extended period of time there.

I really like being in a room with a view of the golf course. It's a blast to watch the golfers in the morning. If you can get close to one of the quiet pools too, it's a bonus. Though December might be a bit chilly to use the pools.

We prefer non-HH area because we always drive. If you are in Bldg 11, 12, 13 or 14, you can come back from the parks or wherever you drive and find all the parking spaces taken by guests checking in, dining, swimming, etc.

Turtle Pond area is nice, South Point is nice, Miller's Road is nice. I don't find a bad space anywhere at OKW.

Having stayed there a few times, my only suggestion appeals to light sleepers: If you are a light sleeper, you may want to avoid rooms that are on the end of buildings on the bus route. On our first-ever trip to WDW, we stayed in a villa with a bed that was pretty much right on the road. With the busses running quite late into the night and early in the morning, I didn't get much sleep that trip. :-)

Just something to consider!

My favorite rooms I've stayed in are Turtle Pond 31, 37, 43. Had both a pond and golf course view.

Another vote for Turtle Pond. We were assigned that area for our early April trip this year (our only room request was first floor) and at first I was a little annoyed that we were so far out. However, I loved the quiet pool, the snack stand at the pool, the generally quiet atmosphere and good parking. I would specifically request that area next time.

We stayed in bldg 19 on Miller's Rd in Jan. Loved the location, right across from the bus stop but just a 5min walk to the HH. We have also stayed in bldg 14 and enjoyed being across from the HH. I liked the Miller's Rd area just as much though and am sure Turtle Pond or South Point would be great spots too. Enjoy your trip! OKW is a fantastic resort :goodvibes

Ditto! Each area has its own special quality. We've stayed in all and, so far, have yet to be disappointed. As much as we like BWV we really do find the bus service at OKW to be superior plus the convenience of being able to park near your villa cannot be overemphasized.

Turtle Pond, near the quiet pool, BBQ grills and the snack bar! #42, #43 Golf Course views~

#45, #46 for relaxing waterway views!

#15 to be near but not "in" HH! Close Walking distance to Olivia's Market and main pool! Golf course views~

We are having our first OKW stay in October, and I thought I'd mention something I learned from the "OKW Lovers" thread...

There is a little walking path off the Miller's Road area that gets you to the POFQ in about 10 minutes. I have two older kids who LOVE beignets (and Mickey waffles), and we plan to use that a couple of times for breakfast...then out the door to the single PO bus stop and on to the parks.

I have zero experience with OKW, but BOY are we excited...our traveling group has stayed there, and they rave about it.

Have fun!!

No, that is not a walking path. That is a construction path and guests are not permitted in that area. If you want to go to POFQ from OKW, you need to take a bus or boat to DTD and then bus or boat back to POFQ, drive your own vehicle or take a cab. It is unsafe to walk in that area.

We take that path each time and although not "disney" walkway I would not call it unsafe. We have seen the workers there and they were a bit surprised but said good morning and wished us a good day.

They were surprised to see you because that is a backstage area and guests are not supposed to be there.

We had a 1bd in the HH section that had an amazing view between the trees, down the fairway with the balloon of DTD right in the center. It was the first building on the left across from check in, not sure of the number.
Best view ever of any resort!
