My friend sent me this message. Although I know a lot about Disney I know nothing about staying offsite. Can anyone help me help her.:thumbsup2

Have you heard of any of these? We really need a kitchenette.

Blue Tree

celebrity resorts lake buena vista

bahama bay resort

THANKS!

they are all timeshares - II - I think.

check prices here

if she is doing an exchange - there should be some Marriotts. If not - then she is very, very late - and would suggest going later when there are Marriotts.

if she can't then - blue tree - just no sales pitch - this is now westgate.

Celebrity resorts LBV - was remodeled in 2006 - but still doesn't have a great reputation

bahama bay resort is not on tug. so sorry
here is there link

if she has a problem saying no - then don't recommend blue tree.

westgate needs to here "NO" fairly often - to understand it.

I know Bahama Bay is a condo/townhome resort but sorry that is all - don't know anything about the others. There are plenty of places to try - a condo or townhome will more than likely be what you need. Have a look through the reviews here on the DIS boards :goodvibes

There are some great deals on EBay. You just have to read carefully that there are no tours required. Many on there are through the owners directly without tours. We have personally stayed in a home in Windsor Hills. It was fabulous and took approximately 5 minutes to get to Disney. No exaggeration! It was perfect! Good luck to your friends! PM me if you need more advice.

We stayed at Bahama Bay last year, and we're going again this year! I'm bringing my parents and aunt with us....Keep in mind that last year was our first time, so I can't compare it with anything else.

Location:
Off highway 27, (off the 192). We thought it was great, because travelling back and forth was really easy. Probably 15 minutes from our hotel to the TTC. There's a 24 hour Walmart up the street (I think about 2 miles), and grocery stores and restaurants between the resort and WDW.

Condo:
2 bedrooms, VERY spacious, laundry room (yay!), full kitchen, fridge with icemaker, tvs in everyroom, dvd in the living room (maybe the bedrooms too, but we didn't watch tv in there so I don't remember), screened in porch, 2 bathrooms. My one concern was that the kids' room (with the twin beds) had a door going to the outside, and we were on the main floor. We made sure it was locked, and hid the doorknob from the kids so they wouldn't try it.

Resort:
Full pool, splash pad and parkette, which we made use of. There was a mini-theatre, gift shop and exercise room, which we didn't see at all. Actually, there were 2 pools...there's also a dock somewhere...we really didn't explore the resort all that much, because I'm all about the theme parks.

I had a reservation at Blue Tree a couple of years ago, but I canceled it after they ticked me off. When I called and made my reservation, the reservation agent told me they just needed the card number to hold the reservation, they wouldn't run the card. So I gave them my debit card number.

A few weeks later Blue Tree called me. Seems they had tried to run my card, and it was declined. I asked why they ran my card and the reservation agent told me that Blue Tree had decided to change their policy, so they ran the card. I didn't have the extra money in my account, so it declined.

I understand they have the right to change their policies, but they should have called me and told me this BEFORE they decided to run my card. If I would have had bills waiting to be paid and they ran the card and it was accepted, my other bills would have all bounced.

I told them to go ahead and cancel my reservation, and told them in no uncertain terms why. Would you believe they turned around and ran the same card again a week later?! :furious: That was a interesting phone call, let me tell you!

There is a very nice Staybridge Suites in the same area as the Blue Tree. We have stayed there many times, and it too has a kitchenette. Plus a free breakfast buffet. I highly recommend that resort, and would tell you to stay far away from the idiots at the Blue Tree.

sorry maxiesmom- it is run by Westgate - one of the worst (if not the worst) timeshares around.

and no they shouldn't have been doing that. they should stick with their policy - unless you are notifed first.

there is also a nice embassy suites close by.
