I need help on deciding when to go next year. We would really prefer to go Oct 20th through 27th but DS's school may have an open house that week (he will be starting preschool and this year the school he will be going to had their open house that week). We can't decide if we should go then or any other time from Mid Oct. through Thanksgiving. What do ya'll think? We want to go from Sat. to Sat. Last year we did the MNSSHP and now can't decide if we should go in Nov to see the Christmas decorations and do the Christmas party. We have never been during Christmas time.

Hey Buzzboys, you can't go too wrong that time of year. To avoid crowds, stay away from Columbus day weekend and Thanksgiving week. Also, I hear negative stuff on Jersey week (Early November) but otherwise I think it's all good. I don't know exactly when the decorations go up, but most of the Xmas related shows (CP, story tellers, XMas parade) don't start until after Thanksgiving.

We were originally planning to go the first week of Nov until we found out it was Jersey week and we were worried about the crowds. Hopefully, DS's school will know when they are having their open house for next year soon and we can go ahead with our plans of late Oct. I just hope we can find out before we make our ADR's which is why we were considering moving it. We can't miss our first officially school function. He is our oldest so next year is the first time we are having to work our vacations around school schedules.

The Christmas period is a wonderful period...and WDW seems to be constantly expanding what counts as Xmas

This year every Chrsitmas element in the parks was up and going by the middle of the week of Nov 11 except for the big Epcot items.

I don't know when the resort decorations went up--they were not up at POFQ the 11th, and I then shifted to SOG, which did not have them either.

To be absolutely certain of both holiday stuff and low crowds, try either of the first two weeks of December...
