i've always managed to make my way around WDW in the past. I've got Charcot Marie Tooth Disease and wear AFOs on both feet. But I've had enough stamina and take enough rests that it's been ok. We're headed back in December. DS is 7 years old and also has CMT and there's no way he could make it so I've already rented a stroller (he's a tiny 7). About a month ago, my plantar fasciitis started acting up again and it's getting progressively worse. I'm in a walking boot now and scheduled for a cortisone shot in a week, but I'm starting to plan for worst case scenario as I couldn't even make it an hour on my feet this week.

It will be me, DH and DS. I was looking at knee scooters and think I could probably handle it, but DH is skeptical. DH suggests just renting a wheelchair and DS can sit in my lap while DH pushes us (this is actually what my mom did with me when I was little and she broker her foot). I'm reluctant to get a motorized scooter as I just think it will be too much with that and the stroller.

Thoughts? This is a nightmare. I had surgery on this a number of years ago and had no idea the tendon could grow back together!

With AFOs on both feet, I would not recommend a knee scooter. It might be fine for the foot that is up, but it will put more stress on the other foot.

Even though you are reluctant, in your case, a scooter makes most sense.
If you had a toddler, maybe they could sit in your lip in a wheelchair. With a 7 year old (even a small 7 yr old), neither of you would be comfortable for long.
With a scooter, you could use it to go distances, but park it and walk shorter distances

Get a scooter and have your sons stroller tagged as a wheelchair. I know that's not what you want to hear but it will be easier for your husband to push the stroller than both of you and everyone will have more fun if you are not in pain. I say this from experience. My husband has nerve damage in his legs and can't walk all day and we have twins with autism. I know that the person in the scooter can feel some guilt, it kills him sometimes when I'm having trouble getting the stroller around the corner but I promise it kills me more to see him in pain trying to be stoic while everyone else is having fun.

Thanks for the replies. I think I just needed to hear someone else say it. It's tough to get to this point and I was hoping it would happen a little later. Very frustrating for me.

Being on a scooter will allow you less pain and more enjoyable time in the park. Your hubby will have less to push and that will help his endurance, too.
