Now, I admit that I'm not much of a morning person, but I have a morning glory vine that my daughter planted two months ago.

It's grown up and around a brick pole, onto the flagpole, past the flagpole, can't get the flag down now...and I've yet to see a single bloom on it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Good morning Rafikix3! :)

I'm sorry to hear that your morning glories aren't putting on a show for you. I've been reading some info about them and "no blooms" seems to be a common complaint.

I do know that they like full sun and ordinary soil, also over use of fertilizer can result in rampant growth and foliage, but often no flowers.

Don't give up on them yet!

Anyone else with some ideas for Rafiki? :)

I have just started seeing some flowers recently on mine...don't give up and don't fertilize.

I haven't fertilized except for when we planted the seeds...I'm just amazed.

I think it must have something to do with the soil where they are planted. I put a few remaining seeds into the back yard bed and they're blooming fine.

I have the opposite problem! I need to get rid of mine all together! They are taking over everything! I pull them out and they just come back!! They seem to strangle everything they get near. I didn't even plant them. They just are there! It's so frustrating. A few years ago, I thought I might as well try to tame them because the flowers are so pretty. Nope, that didn't work. They just ran everywhere. I'll just keep pulling and maybe someday they'll be controllable.

I'm being overrun with morning glories. Poppin' up all over!!! They're pretty pink ones but they're choking me.......

I have the same problem with the morning glory's that I planted.
They do bloom but it seems to always be later then normal and they spread everywhere!!!!! I have them coming up in the middle of my yard....

Tbird, welcome to the DIS and to the F&G Forum!! :)

I hope you were able to find some solutions for controlling the rampant growth of your morning glories on the above link. It seems that it's a case of too few for some, too many for others.

I hope you'll tell us more about your garden, we're very nosy here!! ;) :)

Kim :)
