We are lost in a sea of information :boat: (by the way, thank you for all the great data). We can not decide which moderate resort to stay at during our April 09 vacation. So, we are asking for help. Here is a bit about us:

DH, myself, ds 18, dd 13.

Kids are now old enough to venture on their own, so activities that are geared to their age would be an asset to the resort we stay at.

We are quick morning breakfast people. Coffee, juice, a breakfast sandwich for the go is our style. So a resort that has quick in/out service is a must. But, will like to relax and have a bit more formal dinner with a cocktail or class of wine before heading back to our room.

we will be using WDW transportation, so a resort that has easy access to the parks and downtown disney would be nice.

OK..thanks for helping us.

I voted for my favorite resort (of all the resorts I've stayed at) the CSR. The bus transportation is wonderful, Pepper Market is ,I think, the best CS of all the resorts, the pool and slide are great, even for older kids like your's, and the resort is beautiful. It seems like every resort we stay at, I come away thinking we should have just stayed at CSR again:rolleyes: ... Have a great time no matter which one you choose!!!:goodvibes

We have stayed at CBR and POR. We have visited POFQ. The only moderate we have not checked out yet is CSR.

Our favorite so far is POR. We like how spread out POR is which is why we prefer this over POFQ. That is part of the appeal to us. CBR had this as well but it was difficult to find any shade.

We also missed the boat ride to DTD from POR when we stayed at CBR. This is one of our favorite things about our Disney trips. We now own DVC so are checking out different resorts. We make time during our trip to take the bus to POR so that we can take the boat to DTD.

transportation at POFQ is very good. We did not share busses with any other resort, so no big delays getting anywhere. The boat to DTD is wonderful. We had an 18 & 19 yr old with us...transportation was great for them (DH & I usually had the car, the teens usually used Disney transportation. Worked out very well.) Can't really help you with activities at the resorts...we're more park people, not hang at the resort people.

CSR would be perfect for the kids your ages. They have the Dig Site pool with the great slide (we even use it), the hot tub, sand volleyball court, bike and boat rentals, fitness center/spa, good transportation, walking paths, good food court. And to top it off they are adding queen size beds to all of the rooms (except those with king size beds).

CSR!! Great main pool area, awesome transportation, and terrific food options. CSR also will have queen beds by then!! Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Ask a question and you will get as many answers...It kind of depends on which theme you like best.

In the past, I'd have said CSR. Certainly it will have the most 'adult' environment of the mods. CSR has the best food quality, but also higher prices. The food has a Southwestern/Mexican tone, so it depends if you like that style.

Now, I'm actually thinking CBR is the place to go, so long as you are going after September 15th. They will have a brand new pool, and some rooms are being changed over to queen sized beds. CBR has one of the fastest food courts, in may experience, though my last stay was a while ago. The transportation here isn't as fast, but the new pool looks really cool. It will also have the newest hot tub on property. CSR's is pretty large, and the pool there is actually one of my favorites, but I think the new one is going to be even better.

POR and POFQ were our least favorites. POFQ has the weakest food court. POR was weak all over.

We love CBR -- precisely because there's so much to do there, yet we can get away and enjoy peace and quiet if we want.

True, CBR is large and spread out, but that's what we love about it. There's more space for recreation and relaxation, and the rooms are away from the food court and main pool so it's quieter there.

We love the beaches, hammocks, and beach chairs, and there's beach volleyball too. We love the boat rentals on the resort's own 45-acre lake, big enough to really enjoy the boats on, and the beautiful 1.4mile Promenade walkway around the lake for walking or running. The food court is great and we love the steel drum music that's piped in overhead. The quiet pools in each village are wonderful, and the new pool is about to open and looks terrific from the photos.

Also, there's a bus stop in every village and we also use the bus transportation every time we visit. That means you're never far from a bus stop, and the size of the resort means lots of buses are always coming -- we've never had to wait long.

We just love the feel and theming of the resort, and we can't wait to return to CBR in June '09!!!

CSR!! Great atmoshpere, the pool is awesome and your kids will love the slide at CSR. The CM's are very nice too!!

Port Orleans Riverside offers the ability to rent sea raycers pretty cheaply that you can take all the way past French Quarter, the Treehouses and even to the lake in Downtown Disney! This is a sea raycer ( they look fast but only go about 20 mph I believe ):

Port Orleans Riverside offers Boatwrights for a nice dinner. There is also a very nice piano bar at the resort where you can have all sorts of wine, cocktails, etc.

Port Orleans Riverside is very close to the Magic Kingdom and offers a bus or free boat ride to Downtown Disney!

OK..thanks for helping us.

In regards to everyone voting for Coronado Springs, just be aware that this is a convention resort for businesses so you will see people in business attire with laptops and cellphones all over the resort. They can also get drunk and rowdy at night sometimes. Just something to be aware of.

My favorite is POR. The shaded walkways, boat to DTD, able to walk to French Quarter for a change of menus, fishing, the live entertainment, are why I like it so well.

POR fits the bill for what you require.

POR has boat transportation to DTD, which you mentioned, and they have a nice pool, several quiet pools, a good hot tub, and great food at the CS restaurant. As DJ Disney Kid mentioned, they also have boat rentals there. For the video game minded POR also has a good arcade, and a good lounge with really fun entertainment.

I was there during April '07 and I loved the resorts grounds, landscaping, and atmosphere! It was so nice to take the boat to DTD at night for dinner and shopping ;)

We love POFQ! I have an 18 yr old and a 14 yr old and it's their favorite resort. They love the pool with its cool slide. They love walking around the resort because it's so small. We like the food at the food court, especially the beignets.

This is true...you could see people getting drunk and rowdy at the CSR...just like I saw last year at the POR with Piano Bob. It can happen anywhere!

Thats true, but its more prominent at CSR than any other resort due to the conventioners.

I have stayed at all of these and love them all for different reasons so here are some things to consider:

CBR - newly renovated. New zero depth pool. Food Court service and Shuttters ( TS )

Coronado - convention hotel. New nightclub, but not really a spot for a quite drink at the end of the night. Used to love Fransciso's but the new club replaced that.

POFR - smallest of all the choices. Does have a nice quite bar with music at the end of the night and a good food court, but no TS.

POR - this one seems to fit your needs best IMO. Why, good size food court with lots of items. Bar off the lobby AND a good size pool bar. It does also have Boatrights for TS.

Definitely CSR!! Great resort with lots of amenities, atmosphere and Disney magic!! Also queen beds and club level too!!

Thanks for the replies! Would love to hear more.

I am glad I asked for your opinions. I did not know that we could take a boat to Downtown Disney from Riverside.

My friend just told me (she is a Deluxe resorter) that the food court at CSR is not owned by WDW. Is this true?

Is Riverside and French Quarters in the same complex?

Thanks again.

CSR!! I love CSR for the atmosphere, great CM's and the deluxe-lite feel. CSR offers a spa, salon, full menu room service and fitness center not to mention a terrific main pool area and the best transportation that is not shared with any other resort. It's like taking two vacations in one. Plus CSR is getting queen beds!!!

The PM is not run by WDW. All the CSR restaurants are run by an outside company.

Yes, Pepper Market is not Disney owned. And we could really tell. No Disney magic there. We actually had to leave once because we couldn't get waited on. :sad2:

POR and POFQ are connected. If you stay at one you can use the other's pool too.

We prefer CBR! Beautiful grounds, white sand beaches, hammocks by the lake, Caribbean music playing quietly everywhere, a relaxing tropical feel, a beautiful bridge and island, great and huge food court, friendly CM's, double sinks in the bathroom with LOTS of storage space underneath, and the largest rooms of all the moderates! All that, PLUS a new pool. It’s like a vacation within a vacation, a “leave your worries at the door” kind of place! :goodvibes
