What things do you cook for dinner when staying in an off-site home?? I need some ideas for grilling out something other then hot dogs and burgers. Something sorta quick and easy after a day in the park. Thanks.

What about boxed mac and cheese with vienna sausages or Hamburger helper with store bought rolls and a salad? You can even get pizza fixins in walmart and everyone can make their own personal pizza. That way you all can have a little fun, too.;)

Walmart sells great plain pizza which you can enhance with your own toppings. We added shrimp and extra cheese. I made steaks and potato, but I could not be bothered to make complicated meals when on vacation. Buy some steaks and barbeque them and serve with ready made salad. Or what about a burrito kit or something. I didnt cook often only about 2 or 3 times during the week in our home but I did make a full breakfast every day.

You can get a roasted chicken at Publix that you can heat up in the microwave. Add some potato salad and slaw and you have an easy meal.

If your grilling get some chicken breast and italian dressing the day you arrive. Throw it all in a zip lock bag and marinate it. Then refridgerate or frezze it (depending on how long you are going to wait to cook it) The longer it marrnates the tastier it is! Simple and easy grilling!
You can do the same thing with BBQ sauce as well.

Well my husband's motto is: if it is a hunk of meat, I can grill it :rolleyes1

So we grill lots of stuff:
boneless pork chops
ham steaks (also grill some pineapple rings... yummo!)
chicken breasts (can eat like a steak, put on top of salad, chop up for tacos)
sausage (especially brats, but plain old smoke sausage is good on the grill)
fish, tuna & salmon - both cook very very quickly
shrimp - also very quick

we'll also grill our vegetables, you can even buy frozen bags of fajitas vegetables or stir fry veggies, put them on foil, add some olive oil.. good to go
our favorite tasty but yummy grilled treat is tater tots - place on foil and turn occasionally - this works best if you let them thaw in the fridge first

I also like to do crockpot meals, throw it in the morning before you leave, and it is ready for you when you get home.

Have fun grilling!

Lisa

Tear apart a rotisserie chicken and you can use it in salads. Or in fajitas (just buy the tortilla rounds, picante sauce, tomatoes, onion, black olives and cheese and build them.

It is also quite easy to buy a pan of frozen lasagna, a loaf of garlic bread and a bagged salad for a quick and easy meal.

If you have a crock-pot, then the possibilities increase quite a bit. :) Pot roast, shredded pork and different casseroles. Many things can be made in a crock-pot and the wonderful thing is that you don't have to be there...can set the pot and head out for the day. :)

Desserts cam be something like a store bought angel food cake with ice cream or any kind of ice cream topping. Fresh fruit also works as does the Ghiradelli brownie mixes.

My spouse loves the frozen biscuits and we usually pick up some cheese, pre-cooked bacon and sausage and pop the biscuits in the oven and then make ourselves fresh breakfast sandwiches. And sometimes we eat them even when it isn't breakfast. :)

Chili is always a winner with us. Make a big pot on the 1st day and you have it ready and waiting whenever you want to throw it in the microwave the whole time you are there. Serve with french bread or baguette.

A couple people have already mentioned it, but we also do the rotisserie (or fried) chicken from Publix. Salad in a bag or fresh fruit salad.

If you are grilling out, shish-kabobs are easy, you can prep them the night before and you get your veggies cooked too. I serve over rice(usually cook regular rice, but when on vacation I use the minute rice!)

When all else fails I call Papa John's Pizza;)
